You can see 458's everywhere...not so with a full custom '63 with an LT5 and C4 suspension.
Ahhh....I don't think so. A 458 can certainly "handle" a C4 w/400 hp...and that is basically what that C2 is. The 458 has higher handling limits, better driver feedback (confidence), and 170 more hp.

The C2 IS more unique....I'll give you that, for sure.

What Tom said.
That 63 is no doubt a really nice piece but what I see is a street rod built with a sacrificial "important" one year Vette body & 25 year old technology.

Having previously owned some interesting rides from across the pond I'm not locked on to one make/model.

Numbers for the 458, acceleration 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. That equates to 0.98G's, over 200mph top end + nothing sounds like a Ferrari in full song @ 9000 RPM.

Live well.

If it were sitting still maybe.
Short of a custom built chassis C4 (like one with a C6 frame and drive train) or maybe the Sledgehammer, I really doubt Any C4 is trumping a 458 around a road coarse.

I'd seriously doubt that he'd go to all that trouble to build a sweet machine like that and drop a bone stock LT5 under the hood...

Some of the boys in Chicago are getting 750+ HP out of their LT5's, and have the manners of a grocery getter to boot.

Don't be so quick to judge a book by its cover...it could very well hand you your a$$.

I'd agree with you IF the C4 was stock.

You obviously missed the part where it has a Street Shop Inc. custom chassis under it with C4 suspension.

They also build them with C5 & C6 running gear if you want...it's certainly what I would have done for that car. The C6 suspension geometry is much better...but that car has coil-overs and a suspension light years better than what came stock on it.

I'm sure that car WOULD hand me in my stock LT1 my ***. But not a 458.

I didn't miss any parts. I saw the part about the Street Shop Inc "Custom Chassis"....and what is that exactly? It's the FRAME. All the suspension under that car is stock C4 (except the shocks and springs). Those are fancy looking parts in those pics...but they're simply cleaned up, fancy looking C4 parts. Geometry is C4, parts are C4. Then there is the issue of aero. Sorry, I don't see it. If I was standing track side with the mission of setting lap times, this car and an F458 to choose from, I'd pick the 458, hands down.

Cars have come a long way since the C4 was built. Sure the C4 is good enough as a chassis it can probably lay a beating on say a Beemer M3, or a Mustang GT Track Pack, but it's not going to trump up on a car like the 458. (or C6 ZO6 with ZO7 package, or the Mighty ZR1)

The C2 also suffers dramatic lift at high speeds under the rear end. Alot of guys that have driven them fast and hard, especially ones that have driven modern cars can tell you to go back to a C2s aero at really high speeds is a terrifying experience with all that lift.

Don't get me wrong that's an awesome C2. Probably one of the best C2s out there that you can hope for having and owning and probably one of the fastest on a track money can buy.

But it's on an old platform (C4), with 60s era Aerodynamic understanding (which is to say almost non existent). Stacking that up against a 458, or modern super car (or super car slayer) is a really really tall order.
