NB: Car was registered in a state that doesn't require emissions after 25 years. I bought it, and live in a state that does require emissions for some older cars.

I went thru the same thing. I haven't a clue if my 94 ever went thru emissions because the state I bought it from did not have emissions either. All was well, the car flew thru emissions testing without a hitch.
As far as what I did to it today, nothing. Its been raining for it seems like 40 days and 40 nights, and I do not have a garage.

Finally decided to pull the radiator to check for junk between it and the A/C coil. Could not believe how much junk was in there. Bad part was lower radiator fitting was seized to transmission line and twisted line off. Going to parts store today to see if I can match fitting and install rubber hose connector to old line.

I made a little brake upgrade on my 86. Went from stock single piston front brakes to Dual piston C5 ZO6 front brakes with braided stainless brake lines on all 4 corners.

I just pulled mine off last weekend and installed new speakers. My speaker covers were blue also. I removed them and sprayed them with black duplicolor fabric/vinyl dye. Worked really good. I hope your repair goes well.

Reinstalled the cluster in my '86 after I got it back from Bryan @ batee.com. Repaired some of the cracked plastic and replaced some missing screws to tighten the dash a bit more.

Replaced the rear speakers, got rid of the crappy, half-assed installed Rockford Fosgate from the previous owner, and ordered a new set of shocks from Shock Warehouse. Tomorrow it's time for the fronts!
