What did you do to your C4 today?

Saturday, took it out for a spin in morning, before all the traffic. Then, when I got back, started to check something on my Jag. The PO of the Jag said the updated tensioners and primary timing chain were installed. The gentleman that sold it to me is by no means poor, so I believed him. Plus, I saw it on the service records, but didn't indicate what tensioners were used. Then I saw the metal timing chain tensioners Sorry it's not really C4 related, but just thought I'd share

I like seeing this stuff come together. I miss body work.

I also picked up a 3M Accuspray after doing a bunch or reading...
pretty much i don't want to be forced to worry about cleaning for my first few times painting... I like the idea of just dumping the tips and the pps cleanup looks nice...
My new air compressor is really close to being ready to lay down some paint...
I also want to try the base/clear, so far i have only painted with a single apply epoxy paint...

I had a surprise filler on the door of my 96 I painted. I had to prep that area multiple times. I even asked the paint shop if I needed to use a plastic adhesion promoter since the car is fiberglass (they said I didn't need to). So I feel yeah.

And I hear you about the "surprise filler" (Grrrr, right?)
There is a very large crack there someone apparently tried to fix with what appears to be "kitty hair"
The problem with this is that our cars are made of a special fiberglass called "Sheet Molded Compound" or SMC. (As it is referred to in the spec sheets) My (quite humble) understanding is that this has more to do with the manufacturing process itself than the glass (although it does appear to be more dense than some of the older cars) in that there is some mold release compound left in the panels and non-SMC approved fillers and repair products can separate from it over time as a result. Particularly polyester based products.
And this is exactly what happened with this crack. I grind off the filler to find a free range crack that the filler was trying to hold closed, because the glass repair underneath completely let go.
What I have read suggests we should use epoxy based resins (and there are cloths and matts which work better with it than others.) to do these repairs and make them last. I only use fillers which specifically list SMC as an acceptable substrate for the same reason.
Adhesion Promoters are generally found/used on the plastic bumpers. They use various flex agents here too, although I am still educating myself on those.
Thanks for the encouraging words! Best to you and yours!

Looks good, i have been thinking about a nice bright yellow as an option when i paint my car.

Oh my gosh it's bad.. There was a 1/4" gap there where the bumper cover didn't meet the fenders. I thought it was a cheap after market, or that it shrank. It didn't. The car grew when they repaired that!! They layered up what looks like "kitty hair" and filler till it was huge!
I literally ground 1/2" off the width of my car yesterday.
The bright side? Now the cover will fit perfect. lol.
I think it'll be fine.. It's got the first round of epoxy and cloth on it now.
Get some back side reinforcement on it and some panel adhesive to re-attach it to the structure underneath and it'll be good as new.
But holy crap.. 1/2 an inch!!!

Finalist 2020 C4 of the Year - Unmodified
Decided to finally adjust the TPS. Didn't even know what that was 3 months ago, found a forum post or two and been meaning to adjust for a month or so.
Holy flipping wheels of beauty, is THAT how the accelerator is supposed to FEEL?
This whole time I thought hey, hey there, it's a big old engine Kael, it's going to ignore slow takeoff and need a bit of a push to obey. I had no idea the TPS set correctly would change so much. Oil pressure at idle dropped to 50ish, take off nice and easy on the foot, just push the pedal and go. Driving around in the city with A/C on and 95 F outside, 200F coolant.
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), chase it if you got it!!

I bought my car last October and received it from the shippers in January this year. Since then I've used it sparingly around the metro area for 8 days. I know this because I have it on a permit scheme which requires me to fill in a log book every time I drive it.
Anyhoo a couple of days ago I took it on an interstate trip where I covered approx. 650 miles, and I have to say I really enjoyed the experience. The car purred along doing 1700 revs to sit on 70 mph and returned 26 mpg. All up the car performed very well, the heater was great, the wipers good and the cruise control perfect. I'll have to do it again soon.
The car clicked over 40K miles on the trip.

Thanks for your kind words, guys..
It's better..
It isn't pictured here (And everyone has their own method) but I like to pack cracks with matt, and then strip cloth over it, then matt, and knock it back down.
Then, on something this large, do a full cloth wrap and overlay that with matt.. (To try and avoid tracking, and to leave something to grind into and shape.)
It turned out pretty good so far.
