Awaiting patiently for phone call as had to take my ‘85 to the shop to get looked at for an issue after driving for about 40-50 miles car dies, starts right back up but have to give it a little gas , replaced fuel filter as it acted liked starving for fuel...did a lot of reading as tips all over the board for possible causes, as this is my first c4 ever and still doing a lot of reading and researching and nice having previous mechanic who’s been working on this one for the last 11 years and that all he’s been doing for the past 40+years corvette specialist is on his business card...very nice shop.

New EGR solenoid showed up yesterday. After various connections in place, the redo of FSM test failed. Dreaded my wiring was messed up. Decided to bench test first.

This morning, did the bench test, using the old as a sacrifice if my setup did the wrong thing. Luckily, the test worked as expected, except for one little problem; the old solenoid was fine and holding vacuum, tiny leakdown. Hmm. While in place via the FSM test, it dropped vacuum over about 7 seconds. Uh, is that "slowly"?

Bench tested the new one, it was junk, not holding vacuum even though I confirmed it was pulling a lot of current.

TIL: If an FSM test says "slowly", don't assume you know what that means. When in doubt, bench test yourself.

Reminder: Test the vendor junk before bothering to install. Doh!

Quick pics. Phone doesn’t do them justice. Super yellow in person

Happy with the way it turned out. Will get the other one done next week hopefully. Waiting on some parts for the lumbar hoses connectors for it. They are all brittle and just crumble so going to have to replace them.

My granddaughter got to be the first to sit in it.
That looks great! Which covers did you use? I'm tempted to redo my seats too

I asked about this in a regular post and was told it was not needed. I wanted to do it anyway. I have a 96 base. I knew the ICM thermal grease would be dried up. I found this tube of Thermal Grease on Ebay for 77 cents with free shipping from China. It is enough to do the job (barely). Cleaned it up and regreased and put back in. Found the water seal rubber on the connector all screwed up so I replaced the rubber part. Dan EDIT: the link is not what I bought. says what I bought is out of stock. Many other options for less than a dollar shipped if you check.

Finally got around to replacing my driver side window motor. Pulled the regulator out of the car and dremel'ed through the old mounting rivets and replaced only the motor as opposed to the whole regulator for $250. Silly how happy I am with a functional driver side window. But adds a whole other dimension to driving without the top lol

Cheers to this post for the help: Window Replacement

Only took me about 3 hours to get the whole job done.

Fun fact, if anybody is looking for a motor, I would recommend the one from Rock Auto because they come with low profile screw backers so you don't have to mess around with re-installing rivets or cutting down nuts with a dremel.

Yes I also used the white letter crayon back in the day as well as tire black. These are glue on rubber. We'll see how they hold up!

They are from Corvette America. I cheaped out and got the vinyl ones leather like. They are fine for me and I think will last for while. I replaced the lumbar bladders and also got new foam. There wasn't anything left of the old bladders but hundreds of pieces of black plastic that I had to look hard to tell what they were as I needed the wires out of the old ones. They aren't included in the new install kit.

I bought them from Willcox and used the coupon was a little shy of 400. Seat covers, install kit, and pull tool.

Had bought the seat foam and lumbar bladders a little while ago. Probably around 300 for them also. Plus the cost for the seats. So I went for vinyl to keep cost down a little.

Driving on a back road, popped over a hill and a deer runs out in front of me. Fortunately, I had some room and proof-tested my C5 brakes; they work.
