Finalist 2020 C4 of the Year - Unmodified
The Sun Set of Lady
Her stare is now weak, its focus has faded. The power She proclaimed with Her very presence has dimmed, a faint shadow follows Her.
It started simply, Her oil level was low, a little too low. Overtime, Her oil use became worse and worse. I pushed and prodded, inspected and pleaded for Her to stop, with no success. She still showed Her power until #2 became black, when it became clear that something was very wrong. She still glowed, yet obvious that glow would not continue for much longer.
I trapped Her in my garage, pursued various dark magics to address Her condition. Alas, I am not a full spell slinger, only a man entering his grey years with a limited bag of tricks and the ability to research if needed. Still, I found some spells and paths to attempt. Over and over, She seemed ready, Her power glowed and rumbled, yet did not last long and the dawn would fade. More research, more time, more attempts, all failed. #2 remained black as night.
There was finally only one clear problem, nothing but this could be the cause. The cause I could not fix, the cause I could not even start to fix in my current surroundings. Only the Gods of Engines could be pleaded with sacrifices to restore Her power.
And so, after placing her in deep sleep, again, within my garage, I begin my quest to seek the favor of the Gods.

Sorry to hear that..
I had the same problem with mine, actually. You can ring them right in the engine bay if you pull the pan. I did all 8 holes and even slipped in some bearings while I was there. The heads are the pita. From that to rings is relatively easy.

New drilled and slotted rotors all around.
new brake pads all around
New hatch moulding, door mouldings (both sides)
New rear Targa moulding .
New window felt moulding on both sides .
Misc. Fixes on the door panel. When I removed it I expected the ribs to be broken on the door panel. To my surprise if was in great shape! So added some felt tape around any place I felt needed it, applied adhesive to the styrofoam wind cover (was hanging from the top) and reinstalled everything.
Now I noticed my passenger side window is loose so I have to remove the damn panel again to address the window lol. Good times.....

Burning Brakes
Idle musings.
Used it to get groceries and run errands. Got behind a Dodge pickup on the highway that had muffler drone so bad you could still hear it dropping back 5 car lengths. Ugg. Drove past a parked C7. It was orange with a big wing on the back. I did not lust after it. Actually thought it was "gee whiz look at me" ugly. What a paradox to be a C4 snob.

I replaced the bose deck with aftermarket at Best Buy. They recommended replacing speakers as well. Quote from installer, “if it’s got no highs, no lows it must be Bose.” So I bought new rear speakers that I will throw in this weekend. See how it sounds and maybe replace from ones.

Just installed a new A4 shift boot and a rebuilt HVAC control unit.
Tomorrow the three panels go back into the car.
Hopefully she will soon blow cold air for the coming hot summer months.

Got all the trim panels back on, even repainted the red shifter position indicator...
Checked the "new" HVAC controller and all functions working well. Now need it refilled with Freon, hopefully next week.
