About a year ago some a-hole gouged a strip on my right front fender just over the tire opening. After gluing the inner hood liner to the fiberglass I used short-hair filler to patch the damage, blending with the exposed glass strands.

Finally I've gotten around to going forward with the repair. Long time since I'd done any body work so it will take a 2nd application of Bondo to complete match the body lines.
I'm looking forward to resuming work on it soon as the damn rain stops in a few days.

I took her for a cruise today with 26 other Vettes. I think it turned out to be a little over 150 miles with stops for lunch and at a winery. Very enjoyable day.

Got the fender contour very close and have OEM white on; looks so much better. I'm letting it stand for a few days before hitting it with clear.

Going to clean out the driver side hole someone gave it a few years ago and apply Bondo Hair before finishing off with a Bondo skim coat. Since the hole is ~1 inch diameter, I'll try to keep the repair isolated instead of painting the entire door lower section.

I broke another aluminum rocker about three weeks ago so I decided to scrap the aluminum shaft rocker assemblies and go with a complete set of the Billet Steel Shaft Rocker Assemblies. They'll get installed tomorrow and I'll be able to make the Enduro Autocross Event at Thunder Hill next weekend. Oh yah, I forgot to say - "Go Dodgers"

Damn the door hole patch looks very good. Waiting for little warmer weather before shooting the 2K clear.

Meanwhile, I pulled the add-on hood light harness to replace the 18yr old sw that had rusted out. Will be so much easier to just flick the sw instead of having to unplug the wiring harness whenever I'm working under the hood.

Added 1inch hub-centric spacers to the rear. I’ve never been a fan of how much my Z06 reps tuck into the rear.

Spent all day rubbing on the Vette with two different polishing compounds, followed by a good coat of wax. I can barely lift my arms, but the car looks fantastic....

Rearranged the garage to fit both girls inside for the winter. Had to move all my equipment from the side wall to the back wall, paint the walls and ceiling , run a 220 to the back wall, built a work bench on and on. Now they both finally fit inside. Still lots to do but it was a lot of work to get to this point.

Got the clear shot onto the three patched area, the only area that didn't "run" was the on the flat hood...
Some jackass somehow got tiny black flakes in the air while the 2nd coat was still wet so I stopped.

Looks much better that the exposed damages and good enough to seal her up for cold/rain/snow, etc., come spring it will get corrected.

Looks great Dave! Tucked the "girls" in for the winter! I was looking at storage sheds to put behind my garage. Then I could put all my "accessories" (aka junk) in the shed and free up some work space in the garage.

Thanks Jim! Thats a good idea. I made a few trips to the shed with the mower and trailer lol. A good chunk of the items were Corvette parts(go figure). Having enough space for everything can be a challenge.

I just installed the same ones. Love 'em. Car used to look like it was wearing pumps. Still get to rotate the tires also. Best of both worlds.

FINALLY got to get the Corvette out for a spin. Weather here has been wet so I took advantage of the clear day we had.
Got back from my cruise and poked around under the hood. Car ran fine and cool (never over 180 degrees)
However, I didn't like the color of the coolant after checking the coolant jar. I replaced the coolant 3 years ago, so decided to drain and refill with fresh "green stuff" and distilled water.
All went well and got the job finished and cleaned up the mess. Seems no matter how hard I try to keep antifreeze from spilling.........

Spent the afternoon removing the runs from recent clear coat application...

Had to wet sand with 2000 grit to remove over spray from clam, then polish it out.

Put Rain X on the wind screen, we'll see how it is with tomorrow's rain.

Got my guage cluster plastics, as well as the center section media blasted, and going to order a 3M DiNOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap to cover these pieces in. I honestly think it's going to look awesome, as well as hold up well.

I cleaned the garage and got it tucked away for the season. Got my corner ready with all my vinyls, all my whiskey and my old Technics sound system. Probably spend some time here this winter.

Next time on pavement it'll be with C5 brakes, C5 magnesium wheels and a bit lower to the ground. 😀
