Installed a new rebuilt ECM. The fuel average, mpg, range wasn't working. I did a few searches on here and fix was a new ECM. Yes it worked and now the fuel numbers work. Just bugged me that everything else worked and they just read 99 or 0 or some other random numbers.
Then took it for a drive to see if all was good. The service engine light came on then went off. A little bit later came on again. Was getting dark so I just parked her. Will check it out tomorrow. Maybe another drive for a few more miles so everything up to normal temperatures and such then if service engine light comes on then will check for codes.

New master cylinder, Hawk HPS pads, turned rotors, flushed fluid.
Bedded the pads Wednesday night but weather has since been too nasty to drive her.
New Bilstein B6 shocks.

I figured I’d drive it a little to get the fluids circulating. It took about 3 cranks to start and then it ran fine. I drove around for about 15 minutes and stopped by the store to get some breakfast stuff and say hi to the wife. Went back out and it wouldn’t start. Acted like it was trying, but would stumble and die. Tried for about 15 minutes and then went back in the store and got the keys to my wife’s car and went home. Came back to pick her up a couple hours later and it started right up. Drove it around for another half hour and then parked in the garage. Yikes.

Took the Z out today after not driving it for a few weeks. Fired right up.... drove about 70 miles round trip. Drove like a dream and never missed a beat. Every time I drive it, I fall right back in love with it!

Had surprisingly clear weather on Thursday so took the car out for a little play. I'll have owned my 89 6 speed for 3 years next month, time flies! Got some jobs before a big European tour and some track time at Spa Francorchamps this summer. I want to replace my shocks, new brake & fuel lines and I have a Miniram to install.

These photos are in Wales, if you look across the water there's a couple of little islands and then the big land mass is England, on the other side of the Severn estuary.

Lowly? I don't think so! LT-5's are overpriced, valueless POS that you cant buy parts for.... didn't you know that?

Over the last 2 days I pulled the Dic and gauge cluster to sort out some gremlins. In the end it included cleaning the contact points on the dic, pulling the LCD and cleaning the oxidation from the prongs and the same for the connector. While everything was appart I took some high grit 2k-6k sand paper and a buffing wheel to remove the haze and scratches from the lense over the gauges.

After all this and chasing random ccm and airbag codes we departed on our longest drive yet. 280 miles to st. Augustine, our hold over before Daytona tomorrow.

68 degrees F here today after having been below zero Wednesday. Disconnected battery tender, checked tires, knocked off the dust and went for a drive. About 40 miles of blue highways. Made my day.

Walked by my '87 sitting up on the Kwik-lift. I know I need to figure out my brake issues before I take it back out. Decided not to mess with it and went back in the house. I might get to it some day hopefully. I hate dealing with brakes.

Maybe, my car will be done at the end of the month with new wiring and carpet. All the old wiring, stock ECU and the VATS module have been removed after this picture was taken.

Finally got the cup holder flap open on my "new" '89 MN6. Had to lift the console and fish out a handful of damn coins from the area and put them into the console slots intended.

Recently got the hand brake un-stuck as I now need use one, which I never did with the '88 A4.

Put my newly recovered ( 6 months ago newly, haha) seats back in as well as my newly recovered center console, shifter boot and **** and e-brake cover.
Built a sub box and installed a small amp with a 12" sub. First time I've had a car with a dedicated sub, sounds really nice and actually adds to the sound, I didn't want a thumper just something to bring the bass out. I'll post pics of that once I get it covered.
Now to concentrate on the paint job!!

Hey, Yesterday I picked up my SM flywheel and pressure plate from the Machine shop, after having them match balance the SM to my old DM flywheel, and having the PP neutral balanced. Hope to get it back in the 93 soon, for the second time LOL!
I just want to go on record and say, Yes you do have to get your new SM flywheel match balanced to your old DM flywheel ! LOL!!!!!

Thanks!!!

Default Short Shifter Progress!

Yesterday I received my short shifter, along with a few other bits from Bill at ZFDoc.com. I had already removed my stock shifter and disassembled and cleaned the components, so today I began the reassembly process. Thanks to a few tips from Bill, the assembly went very smoothly. He's a super nice guy, very knowledgeable and helpful. This weekend I plan to install the assembly in the car and begin putting the console area back together. I also bought a new lower shift boot, since my original was in pretty rough shape. According to Bill I need to scrape off the old Gorilla Snot (his words, not mine), and reuse it on the new boot. That sounds like it will be a barrel of fun... Here's a few pictures of the parts ready to install. Wish me luck!!

Regards,
John
