An alternative would be a small metal puck with a "V" grove in it that would straddle the pinch weld. (HINT-HINT)
But, in lieu of such conveniences, I place the cup of the floor jack on the pinch weld forward and behind the locations indicated on the rocker panel, simply because the cup on my floor jack is so big (about 5-6" diameter) that it also compresses on the rocker and the floor pan before making contact with the pinch weld. Not good!
Someday, I'll make my own C4 "pucks" (and maybe sell a few too!).

Ideally you could just do 4 composite pucks and using a router configure them for each location and insert a pair of magnets in each. I would think it requires minimal effort and very accurate positioning "every time"!

I bought one of these from CorvetteMods, one of our site vendors. It replaces the cup on my floor jack and works like a charm on our ZR-1.
