Default easy clean-up of nasty back up lights

after 29 years, the back up lights on the 85 were looking pretty nasty. pulled them, and hit them with plastic buffing rouge, and my small, 4 inch buffing wheel -

Looks great

This is on my to-do list after I get the car back from the body shop. My plan is to do them with my Dremel; I have the extension for it as seen in this picture. There are a ton of soft and cloth wheels for the extension tool.

I thought this would be easier than removing the lens.

this is pretty much it. the power take-off is all that remains from an old dremel scroll saw in had back in the 60's. I use a 4 inch cotton buffing pad, and some polishing rouge for plastics. have no idea of the motor speed, but whatever it is, it seems to be just fine --

i'll have to upload some pics of a set of 91-96 back up lights I did several years ago. it's fairly easy to separate the lens from the housing of the late C4 lights - no so much for the early pieces. anyway, I polished the lens, cleaned the inside lens surface, (glass) bead blasted the housing and repainted the inner surface with a high reflective silver paint, and JB welded the thing back together. talk about something that sparkled and popped!

pretty simple. remove the license plate, the bulb sockets are a twist lock design - push in on the locking tab, and twist (CCW). remove two each, 7mm screws. push in on the inboard side of the light assembly as you slide the assembly toward the center to release the body mounting tabs from the bumper fiscia. it's a bit of a tight fit -

This thread is perfect timing. All of my lenses are in boxes and waiting for me to clean and polish them. What is the brand of the plastic polish rouge? Thanks!

the brand I used is "Dico" - item # "PBC" (for plastics) -

http://www.dicoproducts.com/compounds.html

BTW, should be available at ACE hardware - about $5.00
