Default Anybody use Patriot transmissions in Ocala, FL?

I am going to replace my trans with my tax money and looking @ Patriot Transmissions in Ocala, Fla.

Just wondering if anyone has had dealing with them good or bad.

With a Watkins Glen NY location I maybe don't understand the shopping thoughts. I would certainly think there's "equal" or maybe "better" value and "support" much closer.

Just can't find anyone I think I can trust in the area. They seems to know Corvette specific trannys.

I agree with the guys. A tranny is something you want to be toe to toe with your supplier when you purchase or get a rebuild. The warranty factor IF anything goes wrong with the Ocala tranny is way to much effort to try and remove to ship back.

What I would do is check with your local Corvette club and see who they use. Club officers are easily reached using Google and the club website which usually lists the email addresses of the officers. If your set on the Ocala deal, use the same method to find a local opinion.

Good luck!

Always hated rebuilt items. Just south of you there is Corvette Generation. He may have a low mileage one there.

You didn't mention your engine, but if you have a built up engine, and can't find anyone local, then take a look at a specialist company like Monster Transmission or maybe one from Summit or Jegs. Lots of things to consider, so do some homework on what you need. If it's just stock, I'd think you could find a local shop that could do it, unless you can't find one you trust. I'm assuming 700r4, very common and lots of shops can build these.

True there, though I'd stay away from a chain like AAMCO. There are better shops out there.

With the help of a fellow Corvette owner, I found a fairly local transmission shop that has done 2 Corvette 700r4's for him and a guy he knows.

Thanks for the help guys...

I got a 700 from Patriot Transmission, Never had it let me down, ordering was simple and they had it delivered as expected. The difference in ordering from them or a "local" transmission shop is that they do custom built PERFORMANCE work, so its not like a sitting up on the shelf you get what everyone gets tranny . They aren't a large chain so you have the personal interaction, Ivan & his crew were great to me and I actually sent a couple other friends to him for their offroad vehicles. 5 out of 5 stars from this guy!

Depends on what you are trying to do. If you are trying to fix it up for sale, go to the cheapest one you can get. Chances are the buyer will not pay you more for it even if you spent more. If you are running a stock system, rebuilt to GM spec should be fine unless you will abuse it. If you go higher, a more performance oriented build will be best. Eons ago, under GM warranty, I got the trans rebuilt. A couple months later, we put in a motor from LPE which was projected to make 400HP. Before I left, he promised me it wouldn't last a year. 9 months with me babying it. I did ask him who he liked and he directed me to Rossler Transmissions in Girard OH.

As to local, well, nobody local to me was recommended by LPE or any other known company and the price at the time was competitive compared to the other companies that were building them for performance vehicles.

just bought a 1984 corvette with a patriot transmission in it. The trans has about 250 miles on it was driving the car home from where i bought it about 200 miles away and the 2 4 servo come out of it. Had it towed home and got under it. The trans housing broke around the servo. Wasnt even running this car hard. Now the trany is junk. I dont know if patriot will warrenty it or not either way i got to pull it pay to send it back and reinstall it. Not real happy with them

So you're not happy with a company because a casting broke and you figure it's their fault??? Sucks to be you. You say 250 miles on it. Please elaborate on how you know this - because the seller told you so? Maybe the previous owner, or yourself, knowingly or not hit something and caused the casing damage. Maybe it was a casting flaw that has been there since day one.

I take it you are one of those millennial snowflakes! Did you have one feeling left and I hurt it? So sorry.

PS: It's "go back"... not "got back"!

I see you are new. Either change your attitude or leave. We don't need this crap on this site.

He wasn't being an ******* as you call it. He was providing you with some info. How do you know the 250 miles was a fact? Did you drive the car for those 250 miles after it was installed? Let's say it was 250 miles as the seller claimed. How many were down a dragstrip with slicks or DR's on the car? 250 miles doesn't mean anything without context. A housing cracking/breaking isn't normally going to be the fault of the person that rebuilt the trans. If it was broken before then they should have said something but that's about all that would have been on them.
