The car you see here is...sort of like the De Tomaso Pantera. It's a European coupe powered by a Yankee engine - a 1992 Corvette's LT1, to be exact.

I had a 72 Pantera and that thing does not look anything like it.There isn't one body line on that car that resembles a Pantera..These guys should do research before they write articles.......WW

What is the purpose of this? I am not talking about the car, I am talking about these wannabe journalists/bloggers posting junk on the forums front page and linking the stories back into the forums.

Volvo P1800, the choice of Simon Templar...he needed that to rob from the rich crooks and give to the needy...in a BIG hurry.

I always liked the Volvo's lines. It's a good looking car. Better than a late model C4? Not to me, but still a good looking car. The problem with the Volvo is it' s woefully underpowered. The LT-1 will solve that little problem big time. Still, why do this? But now that its done, it is kinda cool. Only problem is, on the street, someone will think all you did was drop a LT-1 in a Volvo frame.
As for comparisons to the Pantera, You've got to be kidding. The low production DeTomaso Pantera is a classic, rear engine car that handled like it was on rails. The Volvo is a mass produced, front engine Volvo that was produced after the failure of the first attempt, P1900. There's no comparison. The writer made a mistake. Too bad, it would have been nice just to show the car without that reference.

Melting Slicks
that's not an LT-I in a volvo body. It's a body kit on a corvette. Look at the layout of the engine bay and the rake on the windshield etc......
