I am currently replacing the all the weather strip on my 96 CE. I've checked the topics and got a lot of valuable information for this work, but I have an issue with the back glass weather strip. There is what appears to be white lithium grease in the channel that the weather strip attaches with to the car. I don't know if this is original to the car or if a previous owner used this for some reason. Any out there run into this before and do I need to do this with the new weather strip?

Mine had that too, I just cleaned it off and put the new weatherstrip on.

Mine had the same. I cleaned around it but left the grease. Sure made the installation easy.
