Default Ouch trade in value

I'm thinking about selling my 94 to buy a newer Chevy Colorado pick up. Found a decent truck in the color combo I like. At a local used car lot. So I went to test drive it and test the water on the value of my car. I know it's 21 years old with 159k miles but every thing works and looks decent for its age. They said they can only give me 3,500 for my car. My trouble is I don't want to buy another car and sit on my car for months until it sells and I know it's going to be a hard sell.

trade in money sucks for us c-4 owners. Then you turn around and want to buy a c-4 from them and it like $$$

If thats the truck you really want and its convenient, affordable dump the C4 and go for it. Toys are a hard sell right now.
Many may disagree but personally once Im done and want to move on its gone now.

It's not my toy but my daily driver Really it's the first time I looked and drove one. But the novelty of driving a C4 everyday has certainly wore off after eight years of ownership

I'm surprised you got that much. But hey, if its not enough, just keep it for a bitand drive it till you sell it.

Market for these cars is horrible.

No point in giving it away. I no longer need my 87. Dropped the insurance April 4. Put the insurance back on it last week. Put over 100 miles on it the last 2 days tweaking the tune and that was pretty fun. Would sell but I may keep it since it is cheap to insure and plate.

When they say they're giving you $3500 on trade, they're not giving you $3500. Want proof? Ask them if they'll give you $3500 outright. They're really only giving you $2000-$2500. To belabor the point, you can get them down at least $1000 more on a clean deal (no trade).

they had the truck listed for 9,500 bucks without even going back and forth and even before the talk of trade I had them down 2,500 bucks.

Talk with your tax person about donating the car to your local high school auto shop. If they could fix it up nice and sell it for a good price then you might get a nice credit from the KGB (IRS)

Ever think about selling it locally and then do the "fly and drive" to purchase a rust free desert car?
I am moving to NW Arizona when our house sells and have been watching the market in that area. Fly in to Vegas or Phoenix and drive one of these home!

Are you aware of the issues w/those trucks? Your 20+ year old Corvette is very likely, more reliable.

Sell the 'Vette first, then go buy a newer vehicle.

I've got both a C4 and a Canyon (GMC version of the Colorado)/
Dad bought the Canyon new in '06. At 70k, random misfire code showed up as well as a massive vacuum leak. Took it to the dealer, they kept it a month, charged me a diagnostic fee, said it was a bad head, and replaced it. Truck still misfired and seemed to have the vacuum leak.
It's got 180k on it now, and if it wasn't for the vacuum leak, I'd like the little truck.

I had a '94 with about 150k on it. I talked with several dealers and the best offer I found was about $4000. I put it on Craigslist for $6500 and someone came from several states away and drove it home.

You can do a lot better than the dealer's offer by selling privately. Price it right and it can sell pretty quick.

As for the Colorado, I never cared for them which is why I kept my S10. Everybody has their own preferences I guess.

Good luck.

True (I used to be a car salesman here in the UK, Volvos, Alfa Romeos and BMWs). Hit them for a discount , and sell your Corvette privately

Don't have to worry about it now. They sold the truck before I had a chance to go put a down payment
