Default Sticky Bezel

I have a 1994. The rubberized bezel around the shifter console area is very sticky. Any thoughts on how to clean it. I am thinking it is from either heat or prior owner cleaned it with something he should not have. Is it easy to replace?

you pretty much can't clean it. you need to strip the rubberized coating (dulso) and refinish or just replace the bezel. it turns out the dulso coating was not a very good idea. the general was not the only one to do this. I'm thinking Porsche also tried that crap.

Your options are replace it, Wrap it or strip it and respray it as stated above. There is no way to clean that gummy mess. It was poor design decision by GM to use it. GC

but when they did it, it was the newest and greatest but did not know what would happen in twenty years.

Got it on Flea bay 105$ Very easy to do. I also replaced the shift indicator while i was in there. I had a can of red plastic spray paint so i painted the red pointer also. I think there are 4 screws no tricks to doing it. Dave

3 bolts. Two in the console and one under the ashtray. Lift up and slide the shifter bezel back. Pretty simple to do.
