What got you started on the Corvette addiction? Then and Now Pictures for me.
I was a Senior in High School ('78) and actually went to the Library and read every article I could on the upcoming Indy 500 Race to be Paced by the 1978 Corvette...it was the Silver leather interior that struck me as amazing. Just a few months later (July 26th 1978) I started selling Corvettes and the rest is history (over 3,500 Sold so far). I have owned 15 Corvettes over the years including ... In no particular order '59, '61, 3 '88s, 2 '92's, '93, '99, 2 '05's, 2 '06's , '14 Z51 and now a '15 Z06 Cpe. Our kids have been pictured in front of many of my 44 Musclecars and 15 Corvettes that I have owned over the years but it still doesn't beat my wife's involvement with Corvette's. Included below are pics of her parents in their 1957 Corvette on Daytona Beach when my Mother in Law was pregnant in 1960 with my wife. Enjoy some of the pictures from years ago and feel free to share pics and stories of what got you started Driving America's #1 Sports Car. 38 yrs of selling Corvettes and the ride has been great, hope you enjoyed what I shared from the past many decades of my Corvette involvement.
~My wife's parents and their 1957 that he bought in 1958 and put 105,000 miles on it in 4 years! He also owned a 61 and a 75 back in the day.
~The Corvette that started my addiction...1978 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car.
~My first Corvette...1959 Dual carbs.
and then my 61 with dual carbs...
~Our son in the '61...reminds me of his Mothers picture in their '57!

~My brother and I over 25 years ago in my '59. RIP
~I have had Zora Autographs many times in person back in the day...
~Won several National Corvette Sales Contests which won me trips to Lemans in France.
~Always have had great Corvette inventory to sell from...
~Visited with many Corvette customers
...and they have visited with me for decades...
~Had a Boston Corvette customer invite me to Fenway Park for a Red Sox game and he had my name put on the scoreboard in the middle of the 5th!
and I watched my 1967 442 W-30 go across the Blocks at Barrett Jackson.
~I certainly have kept Plycon Trucking busy over the years..

~Been inside the Corvette Plant and Museum many times.
...and set up Hundreds of Corvette Museum deliveries for my Customers...but never my own, YET ...even though I am a Lifetime Member and an Ambassador for the Museum!
~Will some day own a '63 Split Window...are you listening GM???
~I currently own this 2015 Z06 Cpe in Laguna Blue.
~and I still get a thrill with each and every Corvette delivery!

Great thread Mike! Thanks for Sharing!
I've only had my two for a few years so my thread when I dig them out will be A LOT shorter....
Curious though, I see you have had three 88's, two 92's, two 05's and two 06's.... any particular reason for the doubling up? Particular soft spot for 88's and then extra's of the other three years were either ZR-1's or Z06's? Or something more personal like the color you wanted finally came available...? Thanks for humoring me!

Awesome pics!! My dad had corvettes since I was born in 94. The Corvette that really hooked me on them, was his 98 coupe. I had to be 5 years old when he got it. Still remember my 1st ride in it, with the top off, seriously. Today, we both have Vettes

it's weird to think how i started on this...i probably saw some corvettes on tv shows when i was growing up, but i think when i was around 12 i saw this red corvette drive by us as we were riding bikes, and it was so low, it looked like it was floating (or flying). this would have been in '76, it was a C3, no idea what year it was...then flash fwd a few years, around 1978 (or 79), a friend (who had rich grandparents), said that his grandparents almost bought him this used red C3 corvette that was for sale, it sat in the parking lot of a local restaurant for a long while. it was so cool. he said they didn't get it for him because it was a stick. i was so jealous, it was such a cool car -no idea the year, i'm guessing a mid-70s...i thought the sale price was $5000, which would have been a lot for a car for a HS kid at the time (but his grandparents were rich). he ended up w/ a camaro.
then during my HS years, i remember one day this girl whose dad was a dentist, actually drove her dad's vette to school. omg-i was so jealous of that. it was such a cool car and looked NOTHING like all the cars in a HS parking lot around 1981!!!! those were probably the benchmarks that got me going....didn't get one until a month ago, a 2000 corvette...

Burning Brakes
My passion was for 3rd gen IROC Zs for a long time, until I finally tried to buy one. Spent 5 months looking but found either rusty, wrecked junk or $15k garage queens. Friend talked me into looking at Corvettes and the rest is history. Had my 89 for 1 year but before that I didn't know much about them.
I am so envious of those who's father instilled some kind of passion in them instead of plopping his *** down on the couch and watching TV all the time while shouting orders to me and mother. So I had to develop my own passions with fast cars being in the top 5.
Great post, thanks for the pics and history. Sounds like you should change your name, Mr Corvette !!!!!

My earliest memory of a Corvette was the beautiful white '62 fuelie that was owned by the guy who lived over the backyard fence at the house where I grew up. My parents hated the car because of the way the owner drove it through the neighborhood, but I thought it was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen, and I've loved Corvettes ever since. I'll never forget the day that car caught fire in the garage, destroying the car and heavily damaging the garage -- a truly sad occasion. Back then, the car was probably only worth a couple thousand bucks before it burned. My how things have changed since the '60s...
