1992 rear hatch won't stay up
Hello could you tell me how to get my hatch to stay up while I find the strut to replace them help Elkhart disc them please tell up whats a rod bar to hold it up while i try to get a guy to help me

Struts are easy to get. Go to your local auto parts house and get them. With one person to help you it will take about 5 minutes to replace both struts, if you take your time.

Easy to find, and not expensive. BUT:
In the interim, you can snap a pair of vice grips on the shaft of either strut, once the hatch is open. This will ruin the strut...but if it doesn't hold the hatch up, it's already ruined.

When I replaced my rear struts I used a 34 inch long (approx.) 2x4. One end on the carpet and the other end on the latch support that is bolted to the glass. I used the same 2x4 to replace the 2 small hood struts but had to get a little more creative on where to place it.
