Default How To Videos

Hello all,

We are beginning the thought process on developing a series of How To videos that will be thorough, detailed, and as clear as possible for Corvette owners of any experience level! We have a number of ideas on what kind of videos we will be doing, but we also want to hear straight from you guys on what you would like to see!

I want to hear every suggestion you've got! Think back on some projects you've worked on where you would have liked having a step by step video along the way! Nothing is too simple or too complicated. We've thought about doing everything from oil changes, to sway bar adjustments, to interior dyeing, to seat cover removal and installation, and much more. We want to offer a wide array of videos to help beginners and experts alike!

What kind of How To videos do you want to see?

-Nick

Since just finishing this job it is fresh on my mind. Tips and tricks for changing spark plugs, cap and wires on the C4. The #8 plug is an absolute bear. Just getting to the distributor cap bolts is a pain and removing the wires super tight. Several folks on here gave some pretty good advice on making the job slightly easier...I just did not get until after I was done.

Other seemingly common jobs: Headlight motor rebuild, cruise control repair, shift cable repair and battery/alternator problems.

Thanks for taking input form us!

R & R clutch slave and master
R & R carpet
I see a bunch of "what to look for" when purchasing a used corvette
Great stuff, please keep it going

I would like to see instructions on how to trouble shoot electrical issues, such as when the Service (ABS) and Service ASR warning lights come on at the same time.

Maybe provide a listing of components that fail, by history of diagnostic result. (Example, most common component replaced)
What type of equipment is required to diagnose these issues and how to use them?

I look forward to what you come up with and release.

I second the headlight rebuild but while your at it, how about a HOW TO on the early C4 Star Wars dash repair to include plain ole bulb replacement. Another job I fought over was the radio antenna replacement. Thanks.

Great idea. Maybe start with the basic maintenance and work into common C4 problems like headlight motors, suspension bushings, rack and pinion, power windows and locks etc. Then get into upgrades like big brakes, headers, exhaust. Would be a great service to the community.

1. Radiator shroud removal and reinstall on early and late model C4's.

2. Replacement of shifter console for C4's with the rubberized coating.

3. Replacing the fuel injectors.

4. Water pump and/or Opti replacement.

5. Replacement of in-tank fuel pump assembly.

Thanks for the opportunities such videos would represent!

Got a few ideas here:

Where are all the grounds actually located and how to get to them?
Ditto on the relays including those in the dash including identifying which is which.
I know there's a fuse block in the middle of the dash, what is the easiest way to get to it?
Rims & TIres - how to determine what options are available for a given Vette?
Replacing the IAC including removing and cleaning up the MAF.
I'd touch on trouble codes, but that's quite a lot.

That's it for now.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions everyone! I'm glad to see you all seem to be as excited as we are! The more I research videos like this for the Corvette community, the more I realize there aren't very many "professional" videos out there. And by that, I just mean that there's the lack of proper lighting and camera angles to see the work. There's plenty of absolutely excellent owner videos out there that are full of great information, but it's almost always one guy trying to do the work while holding the camera, making it difficult to see what's actually being done and that's a bummer! We're excited to be able to offer such a useful tool to everyone!

As someone that is new to Corvettes something that was a big help was your video on jacking up the c4. More demonstrations would have been helpful. For example, it said to put the jack stand on the spindle. At the time I was like "what's a spindle!"

I would really appreciate a video on seat cover installation, especially if it's a sport seat for an '85 since that's on my list to fix!

I'd watch every suggestion already made hear already.

How about something as simple as removing the side panel to get access to the battery?
Removing half-shafts / replace U-joints?

I'd also like to see the seat cover installation on the 96 since that is on my radar for the first of the year.

Removal of the digital cluster on 85 C4. That's my winter project, as my tach and some gages have disappeared from the display.

Taking the dash/console/doors apart!

This is where you break expensive stuff, only to learn how it's supposed to come apart the HARD WAY.
