Default I do miss the mountains of TN

Are you anywhere near the "tail of the dragon"? Fl has a few 10 foot hills!

If I take I-40 and US 74W (which would be the boring route) I can be at the tail of the dragon in 3 hours.

Taking NC 181 into 19, and then back onto 74 (Which is a MUCH more fun drive) 4 hours 20 minish.

US 70, onto us 74 is about 4 hours. (which is also a really fun drive. I HIGHLY recommend anyone who's in western NC, drive onto US 70. it'll take you through a ton of small towns, and it's a pretty scenic drive in of itself. Even as it goes down into the foothills, and eastward.)

US 70 is about 15 minutes from my house, and I can hit up hickory or marion in about 30 minutes of driving if I'm behaving myself.

These were taken, at the brown mountain overlook, which is about 25 minutes (and 13.7 miles) from my house up NC 181. (25 minutes is with average traffic, and the nimrods that can't figure out that they should go into the right hand lanes to let the guys that will actually go the speed limit by them.)
It takes you to Pisgah national forest, and not very far north from there are several junctions onto the blue ridge parkway.

Brown mountain, is southwards from grandfather mountain.
At the overlook you can look to the opposite side, and see the back side of Table Rock. (which is pictured in my first image) on the other side, the national park, brown mountain. (the side the vette is facing).

There are tons of beautiful roads out here, and I'm probably one of the luckiest guys on this forum as far as driving roads go. I've never driven on the Tail yet, because I'm pretty happy with several of the routes and roads I know of and have ready access to, as well as having quite a few I've not driven yet.

I do intend on taking a trip to the tail of the dragon, probably in warmer months since I'd love to do it with the top off on the car. It was just a little nippy doing this little shake down run up to brown mountain.

Great scenery! It sure looks like a nice ride. These cars are meant to be driven. It's nice to see you're out there enjoying it.

Like the pics. I plan to go up in NC mountains tomorrow and again on Friday. I was up in the Brevard area last Friday but leaf colors had not changed much so using that and the beautiful weather as extra reasons to go cruising through a variety of roads. I especially like to find the ones with curves, elevation changes and are relatively smooth.

Eldertek, we enjoyed the Brevard trip last week. Just got back from a trip to Helen and Hiwassee, GA and parts around them. Found some nice roads there, too. Still seems a little early for the hills to be colorful, but we found some. My wife and I were traveling along with a friend and his wife in a Z4 so we all got to enjoy the cruising. Saw 5 or 6 Vettes, all newer than my '88, and all but one gave "the wave."

Traffic wasn't bad which is why we went today instead of waiting until Saturday -- plus this way I can catch up on F1 at Austion and watch the Clemson-Miami fb game! Might have to go for another cruise into the mountains next week and enjoy the beautiful fall weather as much as possible while we can. Safe travels to everyone over the weekend. Get out and enjoy your Vette!
