Default SYS flashing new stereo

information regarding this in the audio FAQ is hard to research lots of old posts some missing URL's

Going to be installing a Double Din and I kept wondering why you'd need to install resistors to mimic load
instead of just putting a load on the circuit by using LED and LCD circuits
to illuminate and Dimm the new head unit

Found this after many hours of "search forums" see #13 by jerris

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...nstall-az.html

conclusion: when installing an aftermarket stereo get ground, power, switched and unswitched, and power antenna from plugs at CDM

either with or without a metra bypass harness and get illumination and dimmer from existing plugs/wires behind head unit to avoid the flashing sys message no resistors needed metra 70-1855 is for non bose CDM under glovebox

Good luck give it a try hope it works for you. I installed a double din in my 96 a couple of years ago and got the SYS light I finally gave up and soldered the two resistors in and the problem quit. I really forget where they went or how I did it but it was annoying and something I did not want to do. Hope you don't have to.

My car didn't have the Bose Gold so I didn't have to deal with the amps in the speakers etc. and I didn't need the metra harness. I just pulled new wires from the new speakers and wired those into the radio harness. I forget a lot of the details, that car was like a bad relationship and I was very happy when the new owner drove it away.
