Glad to help Branden. I wish I had more to give you, I know you got a big project ahead of you. It was a pleasure to meet you and your friend. Best of luck in your journey.

Lot's of fustration today but trying to push forwards! Swept out the vette and cleaned up more pieces, car's absolutely disgusting! I HATE whatever epoxy/glue whatever this stuff is they use to stick the carpet to the panel! The car probably cost so much to buy because they used glue strong enough to hold rocket ships together! Pain in the *** to get off.

Good luck! I bought an 86 with the same plan, I did a lot of work, including suspension work, exhaust work, electrical, started with minor other issues, I bought the car for 3000, I put almost 2000 into it and decided to part ways before I was too far in. It could have used 5000+ more to get into even good shape. I sold and bought a beautiful 95, one owner, 48,000 mile near perfect vette for 10.500. I am a car guy too and have worked on many of my cars, like someone else said, cost can creep up quick. I just did a "what does this really need and is it worth it" and decided it wasn't, just my 2-cents, Hope it goes good for you!

The progress is awesome and I'm looking forward to more posts! Another vendor from here is Keen Parts, they've got great service just like some of the others mentioned(Corvette Central, Willcox, etc). If you need more generic parts or any other stuff, rock auto is always worth a look as well. Best of luck and keep up with the good work!

Got a little more done today since the weather let me paint! What do you guys think about the storage compartment locks? I wanted full black interior but after sanding these they're kind of growing on me, might look nice in the car not sure. All the support you guys have been giving and the advice is very much appreciated! First time really doing something of this scale, and it will be far from perfect.

Hey Branden. The locks look great. It's the little things like that which give it the personal touch and set it apart from everyone else's. Not sure if you are or not, but I'd recommend using a plastic adhesion promoter on those plastic parts. I would hate for you to go through all the work and have the paint peel on you. It's a little pricey but the can lasts a long time. I've had great success with SEM products. Keep up the good work. Weather is good all week!

Got more done on the vette today, Painted one of the headlight covers and the driver side door handle, the other light and handle will be done when I get a chance, I decided to go with black fixtures because I think it's going to look pretty good on the car, day or night. Keeping things unique, pictures came out kind of bad, the parts actually look better in person (for once! ) These were sanded, primerd painted flat black and clear coated, not the paint i've been using for the interior pieces althought it looks almost exactly the same!

Buy the plastic. They are designed to be the weak link.

Headlight gear's been ordered! expecting it to come nov 18-23rd jeeze! Talk about free shipping, the guy must be walking it here. Don't know if i'll get anything done today on the vette, helping someone move but it's SUCH a nice day, high of 77. Unheard of in connecticut in november, heard it's breaking the record for the day.

Got some stuff done on the vette today, mostly backtracking taking stuff apart, but got the passenger door window to go up (the original motor etc is still in the car and somehow works!) but it's very slow and probably needs to be greased, tried to get the door handle off so I could paint it, that wasnt happening (you'll see why) Took off the headlight cover and installed the door handle I did paint back into the car. (The bolt holding on the door handle wasn't done by me, how the car was when purchased.) The second picture is the passenger side door handle, the driver side handle in the 3rd picture is on there properly! Had to clear that up so there is no confusion.

Got A LOT of stuff done on the vette today, mostly electrical. The previous owner (the moron he is) figured "oh the headlight motor must not work because of the wire" so he ran his own and connected it to the headlight motor. (you'll see where I put them back together) obviously what he tried didn't work because the gear is still shot! (took a look at it today and WOW is it gone, will show pics when I get new gear!) So put the wires back together to the connector, first time doing it so if it's not up to some of your standards give me a break haha. Got the horn working and went from NO interior lights or lights under the hood working to all of them working with some more electrical being fixed.
