Default 1800 Dollar Corvette Build

So some of you probably followed the thread I made about "what does a 1800 dollar Corvette look like?" well that thread is done! Now it's time to try and build this thing in time for spring (who knows if that'll happen!) But this weekend I installed the hood struts, forgot to take a picture and gutted the interior, pics below are just what's currently going on with the car. Before gutting/current. Also i'll show where the fiberglass has been broken in the car. Goodbye disgusting old carpet! (sorry about the sideways pictures!)

Awesome, keep at it. If shopping for parts always check different stores. Some parts are very cheap for these.

Could anyone link me a full carpet set for an 84 corvette? I've been looking everywhere and they want like 500 dollars, I saw a full carpet set for 350 and I can't find it again, the carpet color will be black for the vette.

Edit: Found it! Have you guys ever done buisness with this site and would you reccomend them? If anyone can find this cheaper it'd be much appreciated! And best set for the sound deadener between the fiberglass and carpet?

$1800 Corvette!!???.....C4????...BWWWWaaaaaaaa ahhhhhahahahaha!!!! In a junk yard.I've been away from this board awhile...My '89 project is over $350000........I lie,i unexpectedly needed a garage which led to an unexpected HOUSE....But I digress,as I learned on this forum pre '92(?) Vettes' suffered sucky wiring specs...In addition to new engine, trans, joints, springs, bearings, swa y bars, shocks, relays, bulbs, windows SEALS,top DELAMINATION,interior plastics so brittle they crumbled upon disassemblie.to early EEElectronic climate control deterioration..........MY '89 is now over $25k/w $6500 buy in on an '89.......I have NO regrets, just pointing out issues if'n ya want a nice car............I ALSO had a CUSTOM manufactured engine wiring harness made at over $2k because the original one was SO brittle/w age the terminals shattered when unplugged

Checkout my other thread called "what does a 1800 dollar corvette look like?" If you wanna learn more about the car, it wasn't out of a junk yard! I wanted it for 1500 but the guy wouldn't budge, I gave in, I'm sure everyone here has been there haha.

My plans for this vette is make it as good as I can with what I have to work with. The engine in the car has 171k+ (odometer died in 2010 from what I can tell by the carfax) so the engine/body probably have close to 180 is my best guess, so when the motor goes (hopefully in a few years!) i'll just put an LS1 In it or maybe rebuild the 350 into something with a little more mmph!

Branden...best of luck to you..I absolutely LOVE MY '89 and I have a history/w the previous owner....I STRIVE for the day I can drive MINE..(in between,i actually bought an '87 for $3000 I could DRIVE but it blew up I killed it).But it will be a somewhat Phrrhic victory in the end as I could've had a newer one...I have an emotional attachment to the previous owner of mine...Mine will be as good as or better than new.BEST wishes to you and yours

Thank you very much! The previous owner that sold it to me owned it for 2 years and never even did anything with it but make the car worse and cut wires, was never driven on the street. The previous owners I know nothing about, i'd like to find the original owner of the car, he put 166k miles on the car in 13 years, from the carfax anyway. After that i think it went through 3-4 owners that didn't take care of the car and sold it off when they didn't wanna care about the car, and it shows sadly. The last owner goes "it's just a 84 vette, I mean comeone!" That alone fustrated me so much, no care for the car.

Use Wilcox, they are a forum vendor and it is cheaper $314.
I have used them several times.

good to see your still posting Branden. Be careful and only take on one or two issues at a time. As I said b4, you need to post where your at in case you need a helping hand or if someone just wants to stop by another forum member friend.

I applaud you for taking on such an extensive rebuild project. It shows you are a real "car guy". It will be great to see how it all turns out in the end. Keep an eye on your costs and you'll be fine. I would not suggest putting $35,000.00 into a rebuild though. That just doesn't make sense when you can buy a beautiful example of a restored or well taken care of C4 for $10,000.00.

I'm looking at putting roughly 3-4k into the car over the next 2-3 years HOPEFULLY!

I've brought several old cars back to life over the years. This is a great project that will keep you broke and out of trouble for a while, but in the end it will be worth it even if you never get your money back you will know you did it.
Keep posting pictures & good luck
