did you use any sealant afterwards?
well, not so much a sealant, but used a product by Stoners - vinyl and trim conditioner. pretty much a spray and wipe product.

hey chatham, I see you live in parrish. my son just moved there - copperstone development off moccasin wallow rd. anywhere near you?

I think I found the answer to all the black plastic issues!!!! I continued to research the issue to find something simple that would fix it...I ordered a small bottle (1oz) of Solution Finish Black Trim Restorer, and it certainly brings the black back! This stuff is awesome, I used it on one piece last night and was amazed. One small drop on a foam applicator and WOW.

Not bad for a $15 investment. I am sure this 1oz bottle will do the entire car and have some left over.

It gets pretty good initial reviews but the biggest complaint seems to be that it washes off in the rain pretty quickly. I did see where one guy applied a sealant over the finish and it held up a lot better than just the solution alone.

Did it on my C5
I did very thin coats to create a texture. Nothing like what is on a C4 (smooth layer). I am not so sure I could get the same stock result.

Things I have read about doing it.

Heat will make it peel off. NO!
It will rub off. No. Only where my knee hit the side of the console.
Cleaning it was next to impossible. I would have to do more of a blotting then wiping.

Crap pic, but this is how it turned out.

Looks good. Did you use a sealant?

No sealant.
It just collects dust really bad because of the texture, and I like to drive with the windows down so it gets much worse.

It looked amazing right after I painted it. Matched the semi flat tone of the dash, but over time it proved to be high maintenance, so much so, that I am modding it right now and will not use it again.
