Default My C4 weighed in at 3,600 lbs.. why!?

Got weighed when doing smog. No more than 2-3 lbs of personal belongings in there and a little less than 3/4 tank of fuel. Everything is stock including the spare tire & jack (which I now want to take off..)

Came in a little over 3,600 lbs! I know the rear end is wide but dammm that's a fat ***

So say gas was 15 gals (3/4) then 15 x 6.5 lbs (max weight of 1 gal?) = 97.5 lbs of gas.

If the hatchback is suppose to weigh a bit over 3,300, where are the extra 200 lbs coming from? Got a 94 6spd w/ sawblades.

It is possible the scale was off. No one was standing on the corner where they?

I'd go find another scale.

OR maybe it's b/c you added the RD Cross bar, RD Cross brace, Targa truss, X-brace, V2V bars....that it?

Since you where not there when it was weighed, it is possible the the person who drove the car onto the scale just stayed in the drivers seat.

That makes sense. When the mech saw its the Corvette that's hard to get out of, he jokingly said "We charge extra for pain and suffering bc of that" lol

I'm obsessed w/ the car though so I will have either call them n ask about it or have it weighed somewhere else

Not sure where you live but here in AZ, we have local landscaping places that have scales for ground cover, dirt and rock sales. If you have something like that, you may ask them if you can run your car over their scale. That way, you know you are not in the car.

^That^

Also many land fills, scrap metal yards, drag tracks have scales too.

Ages ago weighted a B/G dragster at the local oil terminal/tank farm and they were laughing about how light. Injected SMC two speed trans and olds rear the rest 150 lbs of tubing 10 lbs of aluminum body and 3 gallons of gas. I suspect fire suit and seat and belts 10% of the car LOL. around 900 lbs.

for ten bucks ( sometimes $12), you can scale at any decent truck stop. Pull on the scale almost to the end, you will see speaker and button on your left. push. They will ask "first weigh", just say yes, "truck number".. tell them C4, stay in the car to get weighed or get out of the car ,then push the button. They will then say," ok, got it, please pull off the scale and come inside". Do so. They will hand you a ticket after you pay. Since you don't have 3 different "axels" , your weigh will appear on " steer axels". if you are careful, you can get front and rear weighed as different axels and it will also give you total weight. Again, your choice to be in the car or not. Just don't do it when the truck stop is busy. try, pilot, Flying J, Loves, or TA. They are the most common. Been trucking for 9 years.

Full tank?

I bet there is at least a pound of junk in the radiator shrud, and radiator's fins.

There other 160 I'd have no idea but if you use the +/- 4% rule, that's about right

You think they'd still be accurate w/ such a small weight? Maybe the give or take is like 150 lbs on those and I'm only 200 over
