Default Bose with CD in a 1988?

Is it possible that a 1988 came with a CD player? I just purchased a 1988 with 33000 and everything looks bone stock and the radio looks like it was meant to be there. My codes under the armrest has a code for a cassette

According to the Corvette Black Book, I don't believe CD players showed up until 1990. Option code U1F.

NOT OE/GM but several did modified units for early installs. Confirmation of what unit was used would require the label # from the radio UNLESS that part of the modification was to remove the label. I believe that if it were a modified unit it would have only CD and not both CD/CASS.

Many did the installs when CD became the desired carry around vs. the cassette.

Snapshot maybe? The unit used could likely be ID'd from a snapshot I'd think.

***I'd think a mid/late 90's F-body or others the most likely used.

I am sure it isn't stock after looking at it better because it has some rounded buttons and all the other buttons are flat. Here's a pic.

Looking at the picture that is exactly what that radio is.

That is the identical unit that came with my 1985. I pulled it awhile back to get the production number (CD player became inop), the number traced back to a '93-'94 Riviera out of the GM parts catalog, and confirmed by an authorized AC-Delco repair center. Hope that helps.

Those CD player/radios came out of mid 1990's Camaros. I know. I have one in my 1985 C4. They are a direct fit with no modifications to the dash except the power plug and antenna adapters. They do look like they came stock in early C4's.
