Brake master cylinder lifespan

Default Brake master cylinder lifespan

Just wondering if brake master need to be replaced on regular basis for safe breaking operation.

There is no "lifespan" for a MC, they fail mainly because of contaminated fluid allowing moisture into the system.

Found no recommendation in the owner's manual when looking for this. I know, a noob thing to do lol

I think it should have rubber o-ring on plunger.

Good maintenance, they last longer than the car will.

Mine is still original 22 years in Texas still good with proper maintenance.

If you really want to go crazy there are test strips that measure the amount of moisture in the fluid, I just flush out the MC every other oil change or so.

I'm big on flushing the entire brake system every 2 years.

If you run track events flush the system prior to the event.

Do Not use silicon fluid. The newer silicone fluids are not compatible with the seals.
