New Project LT4 brought home today
Well, I bought a project LT4 CE today that was rumored to be Nicolas Cages new in 96. I really have no idea if that is true or how to prove it.
Here are some pics. The owner was a lady who I think was taken advantage of by shops.She owned it since 1999 purchased from a dealer in California. The car spent all of its time there until 2014 when it was shipped to Texas.
Here are some pics.
Wish me luck. This thing is going to be a real project but I am looking forward to the adventure, and yes I know its going to cost me. I am considering this "Hobby Costs"

outside looks pretty clean. Motor needs attention but probably not hurt.
How many miles?
I recommend starting fresh with the engine. Find out what needs to be replaced, replace all the fluids and filters.
Did you get any paperwork for the repairs? Do you know what all has been replaced?

Congratulations.
You made a great choice.
Yours looks like it could be pretty good shape with some minor TLC. I bought my '96 CE LT4 project last year and it is turning out to be a fun car. Mine was closer to a basket case and it is turning out pretty good. You will like the LT4.
Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

Looks like you got a nice one; speaking from experience with my own LT4:
(1) pull the valve covers and ensure that the "self aligning rocker arms" are in fact all still on the valve stems; on mine one was completely off the valve stem, one was partially off...those "ears" could have been made a bit larger IMO;
(2) ensure the vacuum venting harness to the opti is in fact intact; on mine the hose between the opti and the rubber intake coupling had been cut by the serpentine belt and the (soft) rubber hose from the opti to the intake manifold had collapse unto itself from heat and oil; these failures pretty much negated the "vented" portion of the late "vented" opti, which I found otherwise to be a pretty robust piece;
Other than those two issues and changing fluids, inspecting hoses, serpentine belt, filters especially the fuel filter on the passenger side frame rail I think you've got a "runner"; of course down the road you can begin spending money, in "as long as I'm this far"....you know what I mean.
congratulations on a really nice car.

Viking, this is the one that was on Craigslist in Dallas that was mentioned here on this form. It was listed at 6500 when I saw it then dropped to 6k. I bought it below that but with Taxes Title and License it will be at 6k. So I am going to just say $6k. I am also following your rebuild thread. I need to organize my thread since I have one also in the Tech section.

i really like the car. lt4 is a great engine to invest time/resources in as they are very rare compared to lt1/l98 moving forward. not to mention more power!
looking fwd to following your progress.
