Default 1992 vs 1993 coupe weight difference

According to several sources, the 1992 coupe weighs 3223. The 1993 coupe weighs 3317. Both were apparently weighed fully loaded with manuals. They are identical in length, width and so forth. Here is a small example:

Does anybody know why there is that bit of weight difference between the two? I can't figure it out.

I found another source that showed the curb weight of the '92 to be the same as the 1993. And no difference between the weights of the coupe or convertible.

In that link, the "curb weight" is defined as an unoccupied vehicle with a full tank of gas and all fluids and outfitted with standard equipment. The gas tank holds 20 gallons so I wonder if the 100 lb difference may be the amount of gas in the tank? Might be "shipping weight" too.

In any event, it would be hard to say if there were components in the 93 that the 92 didn't have that could result in a 100 lbs difference.

GM information from MVMA documents shows a '92 @ 3223 and a '93 @ 3227 - those weights are *SHIPPING MASS and for a coupe with LT1/MD8 or maybe you could say a "hen weight" as AF2 mentioned.

A 'vert with the same LT1/MD8 they mention 2# difference

a '92 'vert 3269 - a '93 'vert 3271

No, you are supposed to ask, "what's a hen weigh?".

Then AF2 can reply.....

Passenger side air bag was added in ’93, can’t see that adding 94 lbs to the ’93.

NOPE.. Passenger bag was added in 94

93 did get PKE though (doubt that is the added 94 lbs)

You’re right. I even had a ’93 and a ’94. I’m getting old. Thanks for the correction so the OP has accurate info.

No the OP just used some links from the INTERNET

The links the OP provided have many errors - the only differences '92 - '93 that came to mind was a base car wheel change on the front from 9 1/2 to 8 1/2, the addition of PKE and '93 got the under-hood fuse boxes vs the jump box behind the battery.

Difference SHIPPING & CURB I always thought to be a couple gallons of fuel vs a full tank.

The Corvette Black Book shows the 92 & 93 weights as 3327 & 3333 respectively with the automatic tranny. The automatic tranny is a tad heavier than the manual tranny by 32 pounds.
