How many C4's are still on the road?

Is there any definitive way to know how many C4's are still on the road?
I'd really like to know how many C4's are still registered and on the road vs. how many have been wrecked/scrapped etc.
Since they aren't making any new ones, I'm wondering what the current state of the population is.
Does anyone know if this information is available?

State DMVs have that information. I have no idea how you get it out of them.
I know they have it because Subaru and others have advertised "X% of all Subarus ever built are still on the road today" stating it's based on registration information.
''Based on findings from Polk, who is an automotive data information gathering organization, they have found that 96 percent of Subaru Legacy sedans are still on the road today. In fact they say that 96 percent of all Subaru cars built in the last 12 years are still on the road today. These figures are based on Polk U.S. vehicles in operation registration information for MY2001-MY2013 as of January 2013."
In the UK you can buy an App to tell you exactly how many there are: https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

I can tell you that while I was looking to purchase a C4 I found many available within 50 to 60 miles of my home. When I started to look for only 90 and newer (because I wanted the newer dash mainly) my pickings dropped considerably as you may suspect. I do believe that the C4's . at least near me, are very reasonable in price, the values have been increasing. In my opinion, the C4's are some of the best looking styling wise of all the C's.

CorvetteRules,
I agree with the styling opinion.
The C-5's & 6's had that fat a$$ look to them.
Even now, although they may be technically superior
in all ways, C-7's look "thick" and don't have the
graceful styling of earlier generations.
As far as going up in value, that might be trying to
become a self-fulfilling prophecy, but it may not be working.
Guys think the prices are going up so they ask more for
a C-4, thinking they will get it. But if you look at a site like
Vettefinders, you'll see cars that have been there a loooong
time.
Naturally the special ones are going to go for top dollar
but in general I think the average C-4 will remain affordable.

At the local Corvette shows here are usually a couple of C1s, 3 or 4 C2s, 10 to 15 C3s, 6 or 8 C4s and 20 or 25 each C5 C6 and C7s. CL will usually have 15 or 20 for sale at any given time. Most are on the market forever since the owners asking price is mid to high teens for clean low milage cars. Never see them at the shows. The ones that sell are cars that can be had for a low price even if they need work. Some are buyers who care about C4s and others just want a sports car they can beat the crap out of for very little money.

CL will usually have 15 or 20 for sale at any given time.
If you switch over to Raleigh NC (I search there because my brother can pick stuff up for me), there are 195.
There are 1000's for sale on any given day across the country.
Craigslist does have some problems in paging and counting, the folks that are programming it are not professionals. I have tried to tell them about their issues, but nothing has come of it, so these numbers could be shaded a little bit.
But still, if you do a Google search on specific years, lots are found.

my guess would be 30% are gone, another 20% are probably too far gone to save and are parts cars. the remaining half are decent to very nice cars.

Any data you think as possible, likely, or probable the one that always tells the truth is Price $$. I bought my 1995 with 28,000 miles for a bit over $13,000.00 summer of 2018

If I get some time, I'll run the NHSTA numbers—it should give at least somewhat of an idea.
The battle with the numbers of our beloved C4s is always their interest (should drive remaining numbers up) versus their low value (should drive numbers down).

C4 of Year Finalist (stock) 2019
I have owned my 1990 since new and mickey5 has owned his 1990 since new also as have a few others that post here too. A neighbor of mine bought a new 1990 after seeing my car and he still has his 1990 too but it doesn’t run and gathers dust in his garage.

Can't someone pull registration data from a site? We can compare that to the build numbers every year and see how that goes

As of this morning there are 149 C4s listed on eBay. Considering the time of year, I think that total is lower than the usual number of listings. In many areas of the country the nicest cars have been bedded down for the winter.
