All Corvettes are what they are. We all deal with them and their different personalities and buy the one's we are attracted to. I find this post disturbing and the need to post it even more so. Isn't there enough bashing and ripping on the different models of Vettes already everyday here without the need for someone to post a "Corvette hate film" ? Does anyone here really "hate" Corvettes? I don't think so. I'm also fairly sure that there is no real hatred towards Corvettes just because of certain years had less power than others. Who ever made this film most certainly doesn't actually own one. I'd love to own every one of those "hated" Corvettes.

Interesting take, but not what I recall. There used to be a rule of four. Every year that ended in four was a bad year for Corvette. 54,64,74,84. That was broken with the 94. I've never heard of anybody hating the split window (except for Zora) at least as time has passed. Now the 63 roadster never has been especially popular. The 74 was small block was never thought much of, but the 454 was always sought after because it was the last year for it. The 76,77, 80, and 81s should have made his list, at least over the 82. For as long as I can remember, the 53 has been very popular ($$$). I think "hated" is just an attention gimmick, maybe less esteemed would be better.

I view the tape as just one mans opinion. 1953 & 1963 split - are you kidding me? he said 82 and 84 X-fires are "hated", but then again, he says, prices are rising - WTF??? - that's kind of an oxymoron. IMO, FOURSPEEDVETTE's post nailed it!

I think I agree with zr1fred. My impression over the years in following sales and auction results is the 64 was always the black sheep of the 2 series. 63 was the first C2 and 65 was first with disc brakes all around and a big block option. In my experience also, the late 70's seem to attract less interest than the 74 and 75. I see his point on the Cross Fire engine but I was around during the 84 rollout and must say that car was a big deal back then with all it's new features and engineering advances. 84 was also Motor Trend car of the year and I actually bought a new one equipped with Z51. 84 with Z51 could really corner and held the record for skid pad lateral Gs for a long time, has it been beat yet? I'm not sure how I feel about the C7, the styling seems a bit over the top IMO. Now C7 could eventually grow on me like the C6 did but for now my concern is over the possibility its styling excesses may be viewed in the future as faddish.

I see what he is saying about the crossfire. At that time if you purchased the crossfire C4 and the very next year you are probably wishing you waited to buy the same exact car with 30 more hp and better fuel economy. At the time it probably felt like a kick in the nuts.

I like the split window though. To me it's like those old movies depicting what they thought the future would be like.

You are correct about feeling kicked when the 85's first came out, I certainly did. I always suspected they had the tuned port engine ready but held it so they would have another big feature to advertise for the next model year. In spite of that I think 84 sales were over 50,000 units.

Thought I'd break up this thread with a positive spin. 4 favorite years (Couldn't come up with an equal 5th):

1955
1970
1971
1989

All roadsters (convertibles) with manual transmissions and black exterior.

It is not the only time I've seen that happen. Many other auto makers have introduced completely new body styles with carryover engines throughout time. 2nd year gets new power plant. I think it has to do with having a somewhat known quantity in part of the vehicle until they get the bugs out.

I took it for hated in their time or at some point in the near future as vettes improved. I have talked to a few old-timers who remember people cutting out the split window bar and fitting a piece of '64 glass.

I thought for sure they would bring up the 1980 CA 305 2bbl vette.

I agree X2. It's not news....it's opinion. Misguided opinion to boot.

Like the 2001 C5 Z06. 385hp. The next year it was 405. Ouch.

All you have to do with those C-3s is yank the factory motor out and go with a 383 stroker.....Swap out the converter if it's an auto or, if it's a four speed, throw in a hurst.....Get some decent rubber and a nice stance with your suspension and away you go- problem solved...

I have heard those stories also. I don’t know if it was a hatred of the poor rear visibility or that they wanted to make it look like they had a ‘new’ car that caused them to cut the split.

There's a ton of these kind of videos on Youtube. Sometimes the uploaders put up stuff they don't really care about but that will stir up emotions, like this topic. Usually its done for views, sometimes its done to add variety to their channel.

If the guy really cared about these "hated" Vettes you'd hear it in his voice easily. I think he just wanted something different to upload to Youtube. End of the day its just an opinion.

I'm sure there's videos of people hating Ferraris and such
