Drove it 2 and a half hours home, the car did great, the 6 speeds pretty nice, drove it home in 6th gear while getting 22-26 mpg in mostly hills! The car doesn't struggle at all, even in 6th giving it some gas it goes! Haven't really pushed the car very hard.

Sweet! You will have to start a build thread on this one and update us on the progress as you get things accomplished. Makes a world of difference when you have a running and driving project that needs some small things. You got a smoking deal. Congrats!

Congratulations! You were able to find almost the exact combination you were looking for.
Great looking car and I too you think you did well with the price. You're going about it the right way. Get your tires and drive it. You'll find some needs as you go. Safety 1st. Plenty of time for upgrades after you get to know the car. It's a lot more enjoyable to work on the Corvette that you always wanted than one you settled for. Enjoy!

Default Congrats

This looks very similar to mine except mine has a grey leather interior! Love the '89! No optispark to deal with, decent engine, and has the black label ZF 6 Speed!

There are some minor things I need to deal with but what 28 year old car doesn't.

Again Congrats!!

Thank's for all the support guys, I was pretty confident about the purchase price on this car, all your comment's make that very clear this car is a blast to drive, I should be getting temp plates tommorow, and possibly new tires this weekend. This car will get custom plates, i'm sure some of you will like the name I get on the plate (if I can) and others won't like it . These are the tires I plan on going with, I think some other forum members run these tires.

Man what a beautiful car, you made an excellent buy. I always ran z rated tires on my 87, they sure do stick to the road good, the only downside is that they wear out a lot faster than touring tires.

Congratulations. Glad you found the one you were looking for. It looks great.

It sounds like you have a good plan too for driving it a while before deciding on whether to do any mods. It will be fun driving it and getting to know it better. Somehow after the experience with your first one, I expect you will at least tinker a little with your new '89.

Have fun.

Just curious, which axle ratio does it have? Some of the early 6 speeds had 3.33 or 3.54 ratios where the later ones were 3.45. With the 0.5 ratio 6th gear the highway mileage should be great especially if you have the 3.33 ratio. I would expect you will get about 30 on more level cruises.
