I'm a purist, like to keep things looking stock, so I would fix and put the originals back on. I will tell you though that my DD is an infiniti and the guy before me had his wheels done darker than the originals. I have a silver M35 and I like the looks of a dusty gray rather than the silver they originally came with. Gives it a "darker" look.

There are a lot of nice looking wheels though, as long as you keep the originals put whatever YOU like on it and enjoy. Just be sure to get the right size so you don't have rubbing issues... my $.02

For those interested in a follow-up, I decided to make the long trek to Greenville SC (2.5 hours each way) to get my original CE wheels re-furbished. 3 days later the car is back home and I'm extremely pleased with the results. All 4 wheels were done at $115 each. The 10 total hours of driving ends up being well worth it. Here's a before/after photo. The machined lip was really bad as you can see plus there was minor bubbling along the spokes. All 4 wheels almost like new again.

They look good. Being a '96 CE, I would've done the same thing.

They look great. I like your choice.

I did something similar on mine too. When I bought it there were C5 Z06 wheels on it and I replaced them with the A molds. Mine don't look as good as your refinished ones, but I think it was a big improvement.

Glad you decided on the refinish for that CE...if you ever wanted a change I would go to a custom wheel such as a CCW, Fikse HRE route

I think the TTIIs belong on a HotRod & just don't look well on a C4 but hey, opinions are like azzh*les as they say.

if not oe ce wheels , find some magnesium c5 wheels. they are slightly darker grey, but would also need new size tires. been lusting for this combo myself.

I went with my 'originals'. See a few posts above.

I just replaced the rims on my 86 with 18" last month. Because I have +38mm backspacing I was limited in my selection. I finally found some C6 Z06 rims with +40mm backspacing that with the right tires fit just fine. I like the looks of them on a C4.

Here's a quick shot of mine, it's not glamorous but enough till the weather gets better and I can take a proper picture.
Nice wheels. I have the same wheels on my C5ZO6. I went 18" square.

I might as well have my 2c worth here. If we're putting it to a vote, I'm +1 for the original wheels. I realize this is just my opinion and everyone has one, but I think I would only look at after market wheels if my car came with crappy steel rims and hubcaps standard. When I went looking for my Corvette, wheels had a lot to do with my choice.
I didn't particularly like the wheels on the early C4s and I wasn't a fan of the later salad shooter rims, so I made my choice of an 88 with the saw blade wheels. I would have preferred 17 inch rims for tyre selection, but ended up with 16s and will worry about finding tyres in about 10 years when I wear these ones out.

So NC96CE, I don't believe you ever mentioned who repaired your wheels? Are you satisfied with their work and price?

Yes, it was Alloy Wheel Repair out of Greenville, SC. A long ride but well worth it as you can see in the photos I posted earlier. POST #25. $115 per wheel. Extremely pleased with getting it done and keeping the car original.
