Default One Owner C-4's.... Is this Rare?

I am the original owner of my 1994 Coupe. 23 years with the same car.
Would this be considered to be Rare?

Generally, yes I think so. Most of the C4s I have seen or heard about people buying, there have been at least 2 or more previous owners. You are an exception. Beautiful car.

I'm the third owner of my '86. Your '94 still looks new.

I would agree, that is pretty rare. I notice most older sports cars or vehicles most people use as 'toys' or 'sunny day drivers' tend to get bought and sold a little more than normal daily drivers.

That is true also because daily drivers tend to be models that are more "disposable" than Corvettes, if you will. Not all DDs of course, but I'm speaking of commuter type cars: Corollas, Sentras, Camrys, today's Impalas (nowadays), etc. So they get driven a ton and are less likely to change hands a bunch of times before they see the scrapyard.

Aside from Corvettes tending to be well cared for, they are commonly owned a handful of years and maybe 20k miles, then the owner's priorities change (or they tire of the contortionist entry/exit, or they are done with the "Corvette experience") and the car is sold, where this happens again... and again... a DD car would be driven well over 50k in a handful of years and not necessarily cared for very well.

That would be rare in my case. Cars are play toys to me...I always want something else, so I buy and trade/sell them when I get bored with them (I'm on my 3rd C-4). Your car looks great! You've taken great care of her.

I agree that it is rare. In order to be an original owner of an old car...20-30+ years...you have to have acquired it as a fairly young person and held on through possibly several "stages" of life. I bought a 1988 Monte Carlo brand new in 1988 with the intent of keeping it forever. But as life moved along and it came time to buy a house I sold it along with all my current cars at the time even the DD. Drove my work van until I stabilized financially then started to collect again. This was in like 1995...didn't get another "toy" until like 2001...the 1975 Caprice conv I still have today.

Simple answer to your question is "Yes". Overall most Vette buyers move on to the next best thing when the mood grabs them and the wallet allows or they tire of the car and just move on to some other form of enjoyment. In the grand scheme of things most new car buyers do not use their Corvette as a daily driver. That's up to us, the second, third or seventh owner. As near as I can tell I am the 5th owner of my 95. Fortunately all the previous owners seem to have left it unmolested and well cared for and I have a pretty nice C4. Not as nice as yours.

What kind of value does a car like this have?
Most important is how well the vehicle has been maintained and what has been done over the years. Being able to talk to the original owner makes it that much easier to find those things out. I would imagine this would make finding a buyer much easier, however, in my opinion, you may not get much of a premium over other 38k miles vehicles with just a few owners that can verify maintenance records.

An original bill of sale wouldn't mean much to me, at this point, other than to verify you are indeed the original owner.

I am the original owner of my 1990 with 36,000 miles and I have all the paperwork that came with the car too. I ordered my Corvette for my 26th Birthday.

Yes it is pretty rare.

I only have half of it. I bought a '94 admiral blue black interior 6 speed new. I wish I still had it.

Good job on keeping yours. It looks great.

I just sold my 94 Vert 6 sp with 33000 miles on it for $15500. I was not the first owner but had all original documentation, maint records, etc from day 1. Did you keep the sawblades? I notice the seats have a different pattern than my 94 had. On my vert the left and right seats were different (not interchangeable).

I'm the second owner of my 90, I bought it from the guy who had it for 22 years. It was a major selling point to know it only had 1 owner who didn't abuse it!

You have done a magnificent job of maintaining your car. She's truly rare; one owner, all original, like-new condition and low miles. Your car will command a price among the highest for the market should you decide to sell. In the meantime I would guess you have kept it that way so you can have the same enjoyment driving it today as you received when she was new. Well done sir!
