I use it for an opportunity to explain to people how affordable the C4's are, especially younger folks.

The more people that we can get involved with these cars, the more potential there is to keep the parts in the pipeline.

It might not take that day, but if you poke an idea into someone's head, sometimes it just keeps going there until they have to go buy one.

Have a guy at work that was actually talking **** behind my back wondering how I could a afford my 94 corvette. I just laughed and ignored it. Then 2 months later after I changed the sawblades wheels to some polished lip replica gs wheels I got on craigslist used, he walked up to me and said to me " it must be nice to be able to have a corvette, and be able to get fancy wheels for it". I just giggled and said to him, " your going to give me **** about my $5,000 dollar car and my $200 craigslist wheels, then hop in your $40,000 dollar rubicon and drive home. He didn't know what to say.

My response to "it must be nice" about anything people say it to me about is "it is".

Most war Vets know KIA = killed In Action. My Nam buddy who I served with bought one of those and we had a good laugh over that. ( He is dead now, Agent Orange finally got him) We both lost friends over there and he was a grunt and I was a door gunner on hueys. Laughed isn't the right word but a couple of mixed feeling did surface . Maybe shaking our heads and thinking about times long lost in the fog, brought up the smile.
Besides, if you have a Vette, you are rich, but not in money.

This is a great thread. Wish it wasn't limited to the C4 section though. People see Corvette, they think $$$$$$$$.
Some guy at work gave me the "They must be paying you too much if you're driving that!" a few days ago. As he's jumping out of his F250 4-door, long bed, super heavy duty, turbo diesel, 4x4, lariat, unobtanium-platnum, bigking ranch horn edition, turd-brown leather interior, mall rated truck with LED light bars stuffed in every cranny. I had just washed/detailed the vette. Maybe he thinks if it looks good=super expensive. IDK
I did do a "build your own" of his truck. Somewhere north of $65K. for a pickup! But yes, they're paying me too much
I live in a duplex, f250-off buddy

I doubt they would know or care. All most of them seem to know is "it's a sports car" and that is about what I see of them. They know the exhaust is loud so it must be powerful. Not much potential in that lot which is kinda why I really prefer not to run into them or talk to them.

That is a good theory.

Lets say it works and you recruit one to the group. The group loses more each day till it shrinks to the minimum that can be any kind of a group anyways.

I have always viewed the Corvette as the poor mans performance car. They are a dime a dozen around here.

uuum, no the point is the Vette is the "value" performance car... I mean that is what is is supposed to be, AFFORDABLE to "non-rich" people.

"poor mans" was always the term used in the area to describe the Corvette, a play on its position in the market, I apologize if I upset your sensibilities.

The Detroit area is flooded with them being home to a lot of GM facilities.

Today the used C4, C4 is cheaper to buy. That said, I don't see a performance car as "value" or for the "non rich". You had to have some money to simply toss that kind of money on a "once in a while" car. It wasn't a daily driver for people with kids and family.

It does hurt one's feelings but lets face it. Compared to other high end performance cars, the Vette isn't really in that class.
