Default How Safe Are You and Your Passenger in a C4 Corvette?

Thirty-three years ago, the C4 Corvette was an engineering masterpiece ahead of its time. Today, not so much as a recent C4 Corvette crash demonstrates.

I'm not sure anyone was seriously hurt in that Fender Bender?

I have an airbag on the driver's side in my 90, but the passenger is out of luck!

I drive defensively in everything I own. Unfortunately, today's drivers seem to be doing everything else (texting, talking, distracted) BUT driving. Stay safe everyone.

I have a '94 with air bags - so would they REALLY work in an accident after 23 years - ha I think odds could be better.

I think the C4 Corvette is still reasonably safe. It has the Guideflex energy absorption system behind the bumper covers which does a decent job. The C4 has a still chassis that's built well. For its day it was a reasonably safe car. Compared to cars now a days its not that safe.

I learned from riding sport bikes on the street for several years that the best way to drive any car or ride any bike is to drive like everyone on the road is out to kill me. So far it has served me well especially in a world where there are a ton more distractions for drivers now more than ever.

I hear people comment all the time how older cars were made better and stronger and had less damage in crashes.

You have to and it doesn't matter what you're driving. You can be doing everything exactly right and all it takes is someone around you that isn't.

At least I have 2 airbags in my 95. The car also has shoulder belts. What should I think when I am driving my 67?

Oct 29 2016 I took a hit in my 1989 at a stop light that spun me around 180 degrees. I as well as many others thought the car held up very well. The honda that hit me, not so much

View a C2 or C3 after a serious collision, that is a scary sight to behold (especially if they have been T-boned).
