Sure make sure you upgrade your valve springs, put in a looser converter, and get a tune. You should be good to go.

Isn't the redline on the LT4 over 6,000 RPM's?

Yes, you most certainly can. I had it done to my 95 auto 60,000 miles ago.

IMHO here is the most important thing however, you want to swap out not just the cam or you will not maximize the potential gains and you will significantly risk a top end engine failure.

Save your money until you can afford to purchase the LT4 Hot Cam Kit from summit or GM. The Kit contains not just the cam but also new roller rockers that significantly reduce friction and drag within the valve train (gain of RWHP). The kit also includes new stronger valve springs. Please do not change out the cam without at the very least putting new matched valve springs. The kit also includes new spring retainers.

You will also need a professional tune to take advantage of the cam change. (Note: the installation of the headers do not require a tune but the addition of the cam requires it).

Real word difference for me after the hot cam kit, stainless works headers, HD timing chain kit & new sprockets was 40+ RWHP on the same mustang dyno before and after the new parts and the tune.

One thing I can tell you is that with the Hot Cam and long tube headers and your stock 95 exhaust system ... your vette is going to sound fantastic.

Yes it is and if you install the entire kit (springs, retainers, roller rockers) your valve train is now safer to run and slightly higher RMS and your tuner can factor this in when he does the tune.

great thread/post...this will be what i do when my motor finally needs to go into the shop.
I have a 1995 LT1 6-speed car with around 70k miles. its been running like a top but when i need to bring it in for work (...if??) then i planned to cam it.

Regarding the exhaust...
i'm in an interesting situation. My car still has the complete stock system but it doesnt sound stock. when i first test drove it i assumed it had the CC magnaflow LT1 mufflers but upon further inspection, they are the factory originals. My muffler guy said the insides are probably a little shot thus allowing for a different sound. It actually sounds ok...its slightly loud and annoying but its better than stock sound. When i do engine work i planned to do headers as well.

Greeting from a fellow MN guy!

yeah i wont ignore the ignition. I want to research that a little more as i think there are options to change the entire system away from opti-spark...what i do know is the 95-96 system was "improved" but how much i dont know. this is my 3rd C4 and i've never had an ignition problem with any of them (but ive always bought lower mileage cars).

Forest Lake? Ever seen the green 92 coupe with collector plates up there? Going to have a look the 1st of May if everything goes to plan (46,000 mile car).

I'm not aware of any polo green 92...i only look for 95-96 vettes, however i've been sightly intrigued recently by 90-91 vettes.
i can say however that both my 96's were green (one with black interior and one with saddle) and its such a classy color

92-93 seats are so comfortable!! and if you didnt know...in 1992 only (only as in standard equipment option), they put the same size wheel front and back (17x9.5 275's)

Actually if you order the Z07 option as is on my 95 auto you get the 9.5" on all 4 corners. It's great being able to rotate those 274x40x17 Goodyears from front to back.

i had the select ride in one of my first 96 (i think they called it "real time dampening" for that year) and i really didnt notice the difference so i stopped looking (caring) for that to be an option on future cars. i solved my problem with my current 95 by buying 18's all the way around (18x10.5 and 18x9.5). i actually just did it this past week and have a recent thread with photos and info.
