Default New 84 Owner

1984 Corvette Coupe
Custom TP L-98 383 Stroker (450 HP)
Holley Dominator EFI System
Coated Long Tube Headers
New 700 R4 Transmission
Vigilante 2400 Stall Torque Converter
Dewitt Direct Fit Radiator
B&M Transmission Cooler
Original 84 Bose Sound System

I know nothing about the car except how to drive it and not break it ( i hope) I was given not a single paper of manual (as I am sure they are all dust in the wind by now)

There are some things I would like to update with the dream machine though and was wondering if it was possible.

- The Digital Dash (I love it and will never replace it but the speed read out is....hard to see. its hard to see the 100's and 10's number
XX5 would be what i see at 35, 45, 55, ect... the climbing bar to the left works and reads fine but still is faint, the automatic dimmer in the dash, how do i get it where it will just show up bright 24/7, my eyes are bad)

- Keyless ignition / locking ( I am used to old broken 81 ford trucks with keys a foot long, i feel like I am going to break this tiny little key off in the door or ignition, i thing a proximity FOB and a push button start would be nice.

- updating the sound system completely (The vette has the original 84 bose sound system...with every single amplifier blown so it sounds like my car is filled with snakes, I would really like an aftermarket head unit, new door and subs in the back, but good crisp quality sound, not just loud)

- Gull Wing Doors ( no not lambo doors, it has a glass roof so I am sure I can fabricate something as the top glass dome comes off with some star keys and add in new doors that work in the gull wing fashion (yes like a De Lorian))

- new interior (the felt is coming off the door and some parts of the floor, if its worse than I think ill just get the whole cab re-done)

-paint (It has scratches on the hood, not to noticeable, it the car where wrapped or properly re painted it would be fine, was wondering if anyone has had any success with anything that looks like stainless steel.

Thank you all for reading if you get this far.

TL;DR Got a amazing 84 with a bunch of little problems but drives.

Default 84 vette

If you have the $$$ anything is certainly possible. But if you plan on doing the work yourself don't try and do it all at once. One project at a time will keep you busy for awhile and you will still be able to drive/enjoy it. Tearing everything apart usually results in project corvette for sale ads after you've invested money and time and still can't drive it.

Welcome to the forum, as said above don't get ahead of yourself or the car will end up for sale. Post pics we want to see!

Batee.com for all your digidash needs. DIY instructions to parts to full service repair...I've been very happy with what I've gotten from them!

Be aware that in order to upgrade the sound system, you'll have to run heavier wiring. Stock stuff is thin gage due to the remote amp-in-speaker design.

I like the keyless idea, I plan to build one at some point using an arduino type controller and a RFID reader.

Super nice looking 84!! The engine bay looks fantastic! Did the hood have to be replaced with an 85 and up hod to clear the TPI intake manifold?

Not sure, it came with this engine and hood from the dealership, its nice but I do wish it had something a little smaller that did not take 100 at the station that got better mpg.

I am fine cruising at 85 down the road, not one to break that 1XX out unless I am on an airstrip.
