Any ideas what this mystery module could be?

Wooops, messed that up. OK, so I was under the hood of my 85 and found this small gray module mounted by the battery, it has a ring terminal that runs over near the positive terminal that is not connected. The car seems to run fine without it, any ideas what this could be? it runs into the main harness and looks to be a PITA to trace. Looks like it might be some kind of relay, but for what?

That would be the correct location I believe for an '85 primary fan relay
I'd think poster #6 is "maybe" correct.
OP what are the wire colors to the relay?
Besides RED, is there BLK/RED, DK BLU & DK GREEN/WHT

OP hasn't returned but I'd think will.

For the '85 Corvette, this is DEFINITELY the relay for the main radiator fan! The dangling wire was probably added by a previous owner for a switch to turn on the fan from the cockpit.
(For anyone interested in adding a switch for manual fan control, there's a much easier way for the early 'vette's. Just ask! I don't want to hijack this thread)

Well, had a chance to check it out this weekend, and it DOES appear to be connected to the fan! If my checking out is correct, it appears to have been modified to make the fan run all the time by hotwiring it to both the battery and ignition, so when you start the car, it energizes the relay and starts the fan up. Working to revert it to "normal" operation, thanks for the help, guys.

Relay
Think proberly the relay has been replaced before . Mine is similar on my 86, fitted the same way but in black
