contest!!who spent the most $/ least c4 value
Considering the threads about the c4 values...
Who spent the most on their c4 and what (in your mind) can you sell it for?
I got a super deal on my car so it is a little different for me knowing and seeing what other people's shop bills are I could easily have 2+ times in to this car, but I'll start.
$30,000+(too lazy/scared to look) total with purchase price parts and labor.
$8,000 maybe as a whole if lucky.

I bought the C4 for 1600 plus 160 shipping then 300 dmv backdues. I have a very reliable driver after about 5000 more including 2 sets of tires. It runs great and I like the cast iron heads / motor and the less complicated set up of the 85. Anyways I am doing the bushings now and i removed replaced the halfshaft today to clean and check my ujoints and seems like everything was bound, snagged , stuck, or something else. Anyways I am getting a new winshield next week and mabey could sell for 5000 if everything still works with 167000 miles now. Wow miles are piling up!

Paid 10k for a Quasar Blue Metallic 92 6 speed with 50k miles, always garage kept. Underbody looks like road salt never touched it. Interior and exterior look like a 2-4 year old car would be. Just gotta replace all the 25 year old rubber bushings to make it 100%.

I've never kept track of my expenses over the years, but i'd guess I've spent at least what I paid for the car 22 years ago. I'm sure the trend will continue. i would hate to think of the cost of ownership, if i didn't do my own wrenching.
I didn't buy my 85 as an investment. as far as i'm concerned, owning a corvette is not an investment, but a financial liability. bottom line - I can't afford an "investment" corvette, but I can invest in my happiness.
as of today - i paid around $10K for my 85, some 22 years ago (purchased in 1995 w/33K on the clock for around $10K). I've probably spent at least $10K in maintenance, repairs, reconditioning, and (piece/part) restoration over those years. even though it's, IMO, in excellent condition, it does have 159K on the clock, i doubt i could get (realistically) $5K today. the big picture - i probably average $500/year on the car - 22 year average. if you figure in overall costs and depreciation over those years, it's probably better than most used cars.

$15,500 on an 11,800 mile car. Will have 20/22 into by the time I am done next year. Who knows how much it would sell for, all depends on who would want it if it was ever up for sale. As I heard on TV, there really is an a$$ for every seat.
However, mine is going to go to the youngest. She will be coming home eventually to take care of mom and dad, so she and her husband will get the Vette, the Duramax, the travel trailer, the diesel tractor, etc.

1991 $32K in 02 spent another $20k over the years not counting normal maintenance. 9k miles when bought now have 58k
1993 $25k in 15, 25k miles now has 32k
Don't care what they are worth now or what I have spent over the years. You can't put a number on all the miles of smiles.

I have never tallied up my receipts on my 33 year old C4; probably a house in some neighborhoods. All I know is that the good times I've had with this car has been priceless to me.

Traded a '89 Mustang convertible for my 84 which I had about $4000.00 invested into. I've probably got another $1000. in upgrades since I got it.
If I was to sell it I'd probably be asking between $5500-$6500. CAD.

This past March:
1995 C4 Base
70k Miles
6 Spd
Arctic White Red Interior
Paid $7200 (Craigslist sale)
April Began Slow leak of water - Water Pump Seals $900 Parts and Labor..
Has Magna Flow exhaust already...
I spent $75 On Spare parts and materials to open up the stock intake..
Spent another 50 bucks on Wax, Rubbing compound, and a new reverse light bulb...
So I'm in it for $8225 .....
So I just Checked Craigslist and 2 1995 Corvette Automatics with 10k less miles than mine showed up for $11,500 asking prices.
So - I might be a little ahead I think?

Paid $27K for my new '86 Coupe from the dealer in the fall of 1985.
When I see what early C4s are going for these days I shake my head.
But I have enjoyed 90K miles with this baby and I will probably keep it a few more years.

5K up front, another 1k in parts to keep it driveable
Thing that's gonna break me is paint. I'll attempt the body work myself but paint... ugh.. paint lol
After that it might sell for 7k depending on how well the body work is lol 76k on the car with a 6spd. Might not be worth much and definitely will have no ROI but I love er lol

Bought my '90 ZF6 roadster new in march '90. MSRP was about 35K but the factory was offering a 10K incentive so it was 10K cash plus my '86 4+3 roadster. Sold it in 2013 with 44K on the clock for $12K. The only cost during that 23 years was a set of tires and injectors plus normal maintenance (mostly oil and lube). Bought it back last summer for $9750 with 52K on the clock. So far $200 for a transmission flush and fill. Oil and lube coming soon.

Like 5k, big chunk of that was the trans rebuild. Other than that, I did 80 to 90% of what's been done to the car. Agree with Joe, if I didn't know how to work on it, I'd hate to think of what it would cost then. Oh yeah, it's 93 ruby, z07, 81,700 miles

I paid 13k for a mint 94 lt1 coupe with 14k miles. ive been offered more for it but a couple grand profit aint worth the loss of fun I have with it. I'm not worried about what I have in to the vette but the 3 daily driver are dropping in value like a ton of bricks
