Maybe you should ask this guy about machining vortec heads for use on an lt1.
In all seriousness it looks like he does quality work and judging by the rest of what you've done on the car the roll cage is going to be a work of art. Looking forward to seeing it.

Thanks for the props, guys! I'll keep you posted. I'm stoked about getting the cage done, finally. It's been just about a year since I got the car.

This point/thought made me go back to the first post...it's literally been a year. You know those cheesy "news" article headlines you see on MSN home pages/etc.? Ha ha ha. "I went on a diet for one year....and this is what happened!"

Got the kart back from the cage builder two nights ago and it looks pretty good. I need to add a few straight pieces here and there but that is fine; I wanted him to do the bends and to save money I can add any straight pieces easily.
There is still so much to do; dash, smooth the frame, paint, lights, pare down/simplify the electrical, lexan windshield ....and more. God, the exhaust sounds SO good though! I need to make the '92 sound like that!

Anyone read JALOPNIK? There is a regular author on there, Dave Tracy. He writes about his ****-box Jeeps constantly. "I drove my $800 Wagoneer to Moab". "I broke down in my $1200 Jeep". It goes on and on. There is a PILE OF THIS MINUTIA on Jalopnik written by Dave. He has a certain style. A friend of mine and I sort of make fun of that style via text some times. In the spirit of fun, here is what I wrote to my friend Brian about an...."adventure" that I had after I picked up the Kart....
When I picked up my $2,000 Vette Kart from the cage builder, it had a pretty good coolant leak near the front of the engine. I thought to myself, "Oh my God! What if the engine leaks out too much coolant and overheats?" When I got home, I looked and looked and looked all over to find where my $2,000 Vette Kart engine was leaking coolant. It looked like it was leaking from the thermostat housing. I thought "That's weird, I just put a new thermostat and gasket in there! How could it be leaking already?" So then I got out a flashlight and I really looked hard at my $2,000 Vette Kart engine and lo and behold.... It wasn't the thermostat housing gasket, it was the upper radiator hose. It just had a loose hose clamp! Hallelujah! All I had to do to my trusty $2,000 Vette Kart was tighten up a hose clamp and it was all better. That was a close one though and I'll have to remember to double check all my hose clamps from now on! That leak could have meant a whole new engine in my $2000 Vette Kart. An engine is not in my budget and that could have meant scrapping the whole project!
Yikes...it hurts me to even play around, writing like that.

Your $2000 Vette Kart looks mean and that Tuned Port intake is the icing on the cake.

Not really....a mirror....just to get it reg'ed that should be about it. I want to try to reg it as a "custom" vehicle in UT, which reduces the safety requirements. UT recently eliminated annual safeties, so the Police are responsible for eyeballing vehicles now. They'll SEE this thing, so it would be way easier for me, if I get pulled over to say that it's a custom vehicle and it meets ALL the requirements for that....as opposed to a Corvette, which it's missing many things.
The list of what I WANT to do to it is far more extensive.

Well that's b/c you live "back east". If I still lived back there, I'd be with you...maybe even 5 miles. Basically the first LEO I saw and the Kart would be on a flat bed. Out here, things are a lot different.Diesels roll coal everywhere, no emissions test where I live, they just got rid of safety....and you got RZR's ripping around everywhere on public roads. Hell....I see RZR's at the freakin' grocery store!

i dont think the law will give you much trouble. i have been followed and passed by several officers with reactions from not even a glance to smiles. that being said, if observed speeding or testing the slip resistance of the rears i dont anticipate them cutting me any slack!
things i think you should add, that are required here.. lisence plate light, horn, windshield and wipers.
