The Chupacabra. Quad Turbo LS Powered Vette Kart.
It started life as a white 89 automatic with 80 thousand or so miles.
I picked this car up last year. Was sitting in someone's yard rotting away, no roof, no seats, in the rain, for several years. He said it didn't run, wasn't getting fuel. Several parts were missing. I tossed him a lowball offer and he took it.
Trailered it home, found that the firewall connector for the wiring harness had completely corroded. I sprayed and wire brushed it, and it fired up long enough for me to get video.
Knowing I wouldn't be hanging onto the L98, I brewed a master plan.
Since I typically LS swap anything under the sun, why should this be any different?
I parted out the car and actually ended up making a few hundred bucks. I took this money, and bought a 2000 GMC Sierra with a 4.8 and a bad trans. I pulled the engine and trans, sold the trans and the truck, and had $200 total now in a complete drop-out engine and rolling Corvette. Once I sold the wiring/PCM from the 4.8, along with the AC components, I was sitting on free.
So, bodyless Corvette, 4.8. How can we draw some attention?
Quad turbos and nitrous.
The setup:
-Bone stock 4.8, unknown miles. Valve covers have never even been off.
-RMVB TH400
- Quad 50mm Turbos
-Microsquirt Controlled
-2000 lbs current weight (2200 after cage?)
-$5000 TOTAL budget.
It currently runs/drives, but I haven't gotten too far. I'm working out a few small bugs before I start putting it through trials. I'm hoping by the time the cage is in and whatever else I decide to do, I'm still within budget.
I'm using it as a test-bed to build a microsquirt add-on that gives it tons of additional features/outputs for very cheap. It should destroy burnout contests, and eventually autoX/Road courses while still running low 10s in the quarter on a free engine.

I finished all of the fabrication work. I also put side pipes on the car.
I'm temporarily running a TH400 that I found locally, since the one I had built still isn't working.

Is there any way to soften up the rear suspension in a C4?
Now that there is no weight, the ride is extremely harsh. I can't tell if its just seized up from sitting for so many years, or the lack of weight is causing the rear to bounce of every crack in the road.

You'll probably need a different spring solution (coil overs) to get the spring rate that you now need.
Cool project.

I'll post some pics tonight.
The rear is stripped to the FRP...I started trying to remove the rear 1/4's but couldn't figure out how to w/o ruining them. Posted about that...didn't get much help, so I guess I'll proceed, destructively removing the 1/4s.
So...some progress. My project looks pretty whimpy compared to this one though!
The car in this should be insane...especially w/those dry rotted tires.
