Maybe try asking in the C4 section?
P.S. Tirerack shows that size in a BFG

Unavailable. BFG is currently the only one making that size and they aren't making a batch for another couple months. I just went through this with my car. You're stuck with 245/50R16.

Sounds like you have an early C4. Mine had 245x50zr16's on it and found the same issue you're having. I took a little different track. I found some 18x9.5 +40mm backspace rims and went with 255x40zr18 tires on my 86. Fit like a glove. Same height, width, no interference or rubbing plus there's a whole lot more companies making these size tires than the oem's. The only thing you run into is you have 1" less sidewall to them but so far that's not caused any issues for me (street only car). Have had mine on since Feb and like them a lot. There's another benefit, if you ever take a trip and have a tire issue, you're not going to have a potential month or more waiting for a replacement tire in the event of tire problems.

Tire Discounters here in northern Kentucky had had the BFG Pro-Comp 2 in stock last year when I needed a set.
tirediscounters.com and check if they can hook you up with a set.
