late c4 rear clip on early c4, which rear badge should i use?
the rear clip on my 86 is from a late c4.
IF it originally had the center mounted brake light in between the 4 lights, its been filled in. also, the insets for the late c4 rear CORVETTE lettering, if they were there, are now filled in.
based on a bit of surficial wavy-ness in this area, i think they were infact filled in.
anyway, with that said, i dont' have the insets for the late c4 lettering...
which rear emblem would you use? early c4 or late?
will late c4 lettering look retarded without the insets?
anybody else done this? pics?

Got a picture of the back of the car? I don't think it would look bad with the late lettering. I'm interested to see what it looks like with the belt line. If it was a bumper designed to go on an early car they might not have put the spot for the newer lettering figuring you'd use the early badge.

I actually quite like the 'CORVETTE' lettering on the back myself.
As a few others have asked how does the belt line look?

thanks for the responses guys.
definately not what i expected!
im with dmittz. i like the CORVETTE badging.
when i was a kid in the eighties and 90's i wanted a vette so bad. SO BAD. my dad wasnt into cars. we had suburbans for our family of 5.
so when i realized that the c4 i coveted so much as a child were unreasonably inexpensive, i bought the car and swapped the rims.
im definately proud to own a vette and also to restore this vette. this vette looked like dogs breakfast after it had been passed out the backside. but it was a complete car save for the passenger kick panel! and it cost mt $650.
im proud to own a vette just like ill be proud to own a ferrari 348. i may even get a mustang. To me its like collecting art as i grow my business. would i put the art on the wall and then remove the artists signature? nah. i dont mind advertising for gm on this vehicle one bit. im stoked to be able to own a few of them.
im thinking its going to be silver lettering to match the silver racing stripe. even though i dont like the silver racing stripe, im not repainting the whole car!
it's not that I don't like racing stripes, for example the white stripe above in this thread looks awesome. But my stripe was clearly done by an amateur!

I will take some shots of the beltline later today. But just a heads up the paint job on this car is not that amazing. It could've been done a lot better

Heres a thought. Since the badge your looking at is easily installed by removing the plate, how about leaving it off and drive the car as is for a while. Then later when you've heard enough of people asking you what kind of car that is, you can drill some holes and install the badge.
I prefer the badge in the lower left corner, blk with silver/pewter outline.

I think body color would look very close to stock, just raised letters instead in indented or inserted. Does anyone make an adhesive mount so no holes and could be removed if wanted? The blank look is like ya that's a C4.
