I had an 84 with Auto. Through a rear seal in 89 at just over 30k miles and through the whole trans at just over 50k a year later. My current Vet is a stick.

I enjoyed seeing the video.

I had an '85 Z51 4+3 for about 25 years and loved it.

A couple things I have to question though.

The 1/4 mile times are pretty good. I have never seen a stock '85 A4 get 13.9 and even the 4+3 was pretty quick at 14.2. I don't think these results were typical.

The text stated they narrowed the difference between standard and Z51 with the '85's. One of the two things stated was "and both setups included identical-width Goodyear Eagle VR tires, front and rear". All '84 and '85 had the same 255/50/16 tires on all four corners, so no difference there. The difference was the '84 Z51 had 8.5" fronts and 9.5" rear wheels. The '85 Z51 had all four 9.5" wheels.

Overall though, I enjoyed it and remembered my '85.

Fun to watch video. It's hard to believe it's over 30 years old. Where that time go?

as far as what the cars ran look in the background. Clearly it is winter time and if I remember that show was broadcast in MD. So there is a good chance they were running at -1500 to -2000 DA. There are many other tricks than can be done to improve ET that wasn't shown either I'm sure. The cars ran well but not typical of what I watched them run stock when I started going to the drag strips in the early 90s. Most were mid 14 sec cars stock.

Thanks for posting, always enjoy .... btw, 85 with stick is a blast to drive (except in heavy traffic)!
