Default Early C4 Wheel Tech Question.

I am really (really, really, really) disappointed with the wheel selection for the early models. I keep digging for more/better options.

4 3/4" spacing is 120.65 mm exactly.

But a 5x120 is off by .65 mm.. Which is about .025 inches. Which is less than the thickness of a matchbook cover.

The Question:

Given this.. Are 5x120 and 5x4 3/4" actually the same wheel?

Anyone know?

NO - they aren't the same!! Can they be "FORCED"? BMW guys have done it for years of course the opposite way 120.65 to 120.

Would I? NOT PERSONALLY FOR MYSELF!!

This statement calls for the obvious question:

Why?

For actual wheel choices, going to 18" has options from +40 offset wheels from C6/C7. Not a full set, fronts if I recall correctly.

i'm not expert on early model C4's but don't they make C4 ZR-1 replica wheel with your correct offsets?

OE Wheels LLC out of florida has many selections for C4 corvettes...they are all Corvette replicas wheels (C4-C7) that they make in 17" with multiple offsets

I picked up some replica C6 Z06 rims a few months ago for my 86. 18"x9.5" +40mm backspacing to replace 16"x9.5" +38mm that were oem on the car. Add 255x40zr18 tires and they fit just like the original setup - no rubbing, no scraping, no issues with them.

I got mine out of a place in Texas (FactoryReproductions brand) and they look and ride good. Actually turned out I could get them through where I did for less than if I went direct to the vendor.

I think they look pretty good on my 86.

I have C6 Z06 with 275/35/18 on my 1985, no spacers needed and were a perfect fit. There are lots of options out there, even Ebay has quite a few.
