What are your temps in 95-105 degree weather?
This is how hot it was outside:
Felt like 110/15 though bc of the hot hwy.
My engine temps were about 209-215 at like 30-60 mph and 207 at 70-75 mph. Oil temp went as high as 240 (both from the electronic dash readout)
I was a bit worried during heavy traffic where the engine temps would stay around 220-225 even with the fan on and AC fan on. Coolant was changed 3 yrs ago which was only 4k miles ago. It looks like this was only a drain though, not a flush. Haven't had temps above 205 besides in this heat.
You guys think I should do an actual coolant flush or is everything peachy-keen? Thanks!

Mine are 185-195.
Unless you're running ELC, you're already overdue for another coolant change/flush...so if not ELC, it's due.

FML I had the wrong interval written on my service interval sheet! I will have to double check all those recommended date/miles. Thanks for the info.

Right now I'm seeing about 195 to 200 on the practically useless gauge that has 100 and 260 extremes. That's in 105 to 110 ambient temp. That's also with the a/c blasting.
WEK.

Thanks.
Owners manual says its time for a coolant change (every 2 yrs or 30k miles). After researching coolant a bit this seems pretty precautious. Anyone know why GM recommended this? Maybe coolant didn't hold up as well back then? Talking about standard not ELC.

Also, judging from the records it doesn't look like its had a coolant flush. I'm at 97k miles. Recommended by now no?
Thanks! Just making sure Adriana is in excellente shape

At 105 she'd heat soak out @ 210/215 running around 70 MPH on the flats.
That's with 3:07s and the A/C on. It would about 10 more when climbing.

I was driving my '92 home today and thought about this thread. Here were the conditions:
*It was 104*F in Salt Lake today, as I was driving home.
*I was driving ~70-75 mph
*I had the AC going so there is some added heat loading to the cooling system.
*My coolant temps read (on the DIC) 184*F - 194*F. Here is where it was at when I first noticed the temp, thought about this thread and snapped a pic....
Guys....this is where your temps should be in a stock or stockish car when cruising down the highway. Unless you're RPM is quite elevated, ambient temps are over 120 (or something like that) or your towing a heavy load, the cooling system should have more capacity than you'll ever need putt-putt-ing down the highway at 1800 RPM. Guys who are posting that their cars typically operate at 205, 210, 220....those temps will never hurt anything at all, but they shouldn't be that high, at speed on the road. If people are seeing those numbers at traveling speeds, something has hurt the efficiency of their cooling system.

Hmmm, I checked mine today too as the temps was 101 ambient. With AC on and 70-75 mph I was anywhere from 195-201. City Traffic it was no more than 207.

Yesterday ambient was 97 for the drive home heat index 106.
Drive home was mostly city traffic 45 mph or lower with about 5 miles of 60 on the toll road.
AC on auto.
Temp was between 201 and 208 (when stopped).
92 Coupe stock cooling system.
