Default How do I add CD's to my radio?

I just got my first C4, and it's as awesome as you'd expect... love those 3.07's!

However I don't have a CD player... I hate to deviate from the build sheet, but was there a STOCK CD only option I could exchange out or would it just be the CD/Cassette??

Any advice?

What year?

There was a Bose Gold option that had AM/FM/CD/Cass. However it requires a EDM and speakers with Amps.

Dump the radio if it isn't Bose and put a better head unit in. If it is Bose, rewire and put new speakers and radio with CD in.

If you own a 1984-1987 C4 with a stock Bose system with speaker amplifiers and don't want to have to change all the wiring and speakers, you can swap in an AM-FM-with a single CD player from a 1995 Camaro. It's a direct fit. No cutting or drilling. It looks like it was stock from the factory. All you need will be an antenna adapter and a plug adapter. All of which you can find cheaply on Ebay. I did this swap in my 85 and it works and sounds great.

It appears you have a 1995. If you don't have the Bose system (if you do, then you'll need different installation gear), then either of these radios would be a very good replacement -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X83...BHS.html?avf=Y

One is a single DIN and the other double DIN which just means one is double the size of the other. If you buy the smaller one, you'll have a small pocket underneath it in the dash to store sunglasses or the remote, etc. Crutchfield will sell the installation gear for either to you for $4.98 along with installation instructions specific to your car. I have the 8800 single DIN. It's a good unit - I just put one into my F150 last week. I have had an older Pioneer unit in my C4 for four years and it also has worked very well. Along with all of it's other features, you can change the color of the unit display to match your dash.

If I am wrong and you have a BOSE unit or a different year, just go to their "Find what fits my vehicle" section and input your year and options. Crutchfield will also show you what speakers fit and what you need to install them. I have purchased many stereos from them over the years and they have always provided very good service.

If you have a smart phone, grab Bluetooth to FM transmitter, a lot easier then carrying a bunch of CD's around. Or you could just plug in a portable CD-player to it.

Amazon Amazon

What do they cost to 'rebuild'??

So this would be a replacement of my unit with nothing required? Will it require a dealer reset or something?

What would you be willing to sell your broken unit for?

GM built a Bose & non Bose radio/CD combo for the Camaro and others during those same years and a bit later.
I bought a Bose CD combo for my 86. just a needed to work out the wiring and used a rocker switch for the antenna.
Only draw back was the CD player would spaz out when going over RR tracks and other harsh surfaces.

OK, so since I have a non-cd bose cassette radio in my 95' all i'll really need to do, to retain the stock appearance, is get the bose CD/cassette from another 95' vette and it's plug and play.

Will I need to go to the dealer to have it 'unlocked' or anything?

Just curious.
