Default Finished Customizing and Plasti Diped the 89

Just completed the total customization of my wife's '89 convertible. Put some upgrades on the L98, added 3.73 gears, new purple\white\red dash lens with LEDs, and new black leather seats. The car dynoed 215HP 289Trq at the wheels.

This past week I Plasti Diped the car to a new color for $350, and added black stripes today. I know the color might not be everyone's favorite, but it's a one of a kind vette now The Plasti Dip can be pealed off anytime to change it back to the original color.

Original Color

Black Plasti Dip Base coats to darken the purple top coat

Purple Pear top coat

Finished

Stripes!

I have to admit I've seen a coated car before - didn't like it. This one on the other hand looks pretty good.

Well done.

Yea, my wife didn't like the original flat colors either. The glossifiers and pearls they have now add a nice sheen to it.

Don't care for purple, but that looks like a very well done job.

How long will it last?

Meaning if stored mostly and driven rarely and almost never parked will it last years?

I got a large scratch in mine now and considering doing this process. Plus I don't keep mine like show car, more of a driver / fun car for exactly this reason.

It looks pretty good.

Although I admit that I like shiny paint better, it interests me a lot. I have been considering getting an inexpensive (cheap!) corvette as a driver/toy. Many of them have bad paint or body flaws in the price range I am considering. Plasti Dip would solve a lot. It looks pretty good and covers a lot of flaws. I think it could be a low cost way of turning a neglected/abused looking car into something nice.

Thanks for posting and showing us a good example of what it can do.

You can touch it up if anything goes wrong. You can use a q tip and just reapply it. It blends back into itself. It's not like trying to cover a paint chip. It's real easy to work with. It's already been caught in the rain 2x and washed. A little bit came off on the very edge of the spoiler, but it covered up with the q tip. When washing it, you can spray wheel cleaner on the car or sponge to help it glide... Remember, it's not paint, it's rubber, the wheel cleaner won't damage it. ≤yoda≥you must unlearn what you have learned.
