Car is a 1987. Have not found anything or any wires that look like something is disconnected. Bought at an auction house selling multiple estates ...previous owner was deceased.

If you ever figure out what it might be, update this thread. I'd be curious to find out. Good luck and Gratz on the car!

I installed a switch that disabled the interior lights when the hatch was open.
Another to run the engine cooling fan with the ignition off...

Pull it out and see if any wires are on it.

well, we all agree, it's pretty much not factory. just a wild *** guess - one thing to check - does the radio have a CD player? I've heard of mods where owners could disable the power antenna when playing CD's - ???

This is the problem when buying a 30 yo car like a C4. You never know what kind of hair-brained modification a previous owner has made. I would suspect a kill switch that may cause starting problems later on.

My two cents.
Owning an 84 vet for well over 20 years I'll mention my hair-brained, cockamamie, off the wall modification I made using an identical switch - and that was to control the fan relay to turn the fan on while sitting in traffic or on out local bridge that goes to Canada on one of our over 90 degree days. Belong to a group of owners and it's not unheard of for an early c4 to over heat while just sitting due to sensor not acting as quick as it should. Bring the temp back to normal perfectly.
