Default Are C4's gaining more acceptance?

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I was out driving my 88' and I had a quite a few people in passing cars give me a thumbs up including a number of import guys as well as police officer.

a few years ago it seemed no one ever noticed (or cared) when I drove my 88' Corvette. Last year and this year some people have seemed to start liking my C4 again. What do you guys think? Have you had this experience also?

I honestly don't pay attention anymore. Some Corvette drivers wave, some don't. I'm not out there looking for friends.

I think your right. My 94' always sparks up conversation at gas stations and such.

When I bought it in 2011 it hardly got any attention (which is fine I didn't buy it for anyone else). But, I do think they are starting to regain popularity again. The ones that are left are generally a little nicer and well kept by people that enjoy/appreciate the C4. They also happen to still be the best bargain in my opinion. I feel the C5 is in the same trend the C4 was in 5-10 years ago. Prices are dropping/leveling out, interest is kind of non-existent, people don't give them a 2nd look.

A nice C4, like yours, really stands out against the large, bulbous looking cars driving around today.

Thanks TorchTarga94.

Ya, I was kind of suprised by the level of interest this year. All the corvette guys I went by waved and I got a thumbs up from a number of 60's muscle cars and a few import drivers + the cop.

Kind of nice to see people starting to appeciate the C4 again, it has taken a long time. I've had mine since 2003 and not had much interest until maybe last year.

Those that are still on the road look nice, for the most part. I think lots of car ppl appreciate any car that shows a lot of TLC.

I got pulled over by a Cop this week that told me straight up that he pulled me over to look at the car and did I mind !!

He loved the Polo Green !!

Didn't even ask for license and registration which I had ready for him anyway. We shot the breeze about 'vettes for about 15 minutes and then went our separate ways...pretty cool !!

Heard on a regular basis; "OOOh, you have a Corvette? I guess we know who has the big bucks". If only they knew. Any Corvette is special. It stands out in any crowd and is identifiable as a Corvette, unless you are a total car illiterate. Driving a Corvette maies a statement.

It is among the younger set anyway.
I get open mouthed stares from the kids.
They go berserk if I open the headlights.
My daughter (15 yrs) loves my '85.
When I tell people my age that I have an '85, I get "Oh" and they act like I just told them I have 2 weeks to live!
But when my daughter's friends see or hear about, their response is "that is so cool! those are my favorite corvettes".

I watched a guy sit and stare at my car for a few minutes at work today, just admiring it. It actually lets lots of attention, parked or driving on the road. They do get noticed, the only people hating on C4's are mostly owners of other Corvettes, which is sad.

as long as time passes and new kids are born each year, c4's will gain in appreciation given enough time.

its as natural as old men getting crusty with age....

but seriously, my c4's are loved by my friends. ive spawned one other owner and im sure a couple more guys my age will follow. this was one of the cars on our wall along with the Testerossa and the countach. along with seventeen magazine centerfolds of cameran diaz in an american flag bikini before she was famous.

Yes... Old to us, new to kids, and affordable to those that could not when new.

Mine is only the 2nd one in my area and I get a fair amount of compliments... But not as many as our C7. Still love my C4!

your vette is nice but if a cop pulled me over just to look at it I probably would not be happy. talk about abuse of power
