Default Alternative for tyres on C4

Hi
Looking for help on alternative tyres on rims 255/50/R16 on C4 -1987
Rims are BBS

I found this website : https://tiresize.com/tires/Chevrolet...87/Base-Model/

Any advice ? Could i take 245/50/R16 Y ? or Z ? and put them on the rim ?
Thanks
Didier

PS : I'm asking this because hard to find such tyres in Europe, found only Michelin @ more than 500 USD/tyre and Toyo tyres but only for circuit !

This may help some: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...0-16X9.5ET38&w +heel2=255-40-18X9.5ET40&fcl=50mm&wcl=30mm&scl=50mm&sr =0mm

Just upgraded mine a few months ago. Went from 16x9.5 +38 rims with 245x50zr16 tires to 18x9.5 +40 rims with 255x40zr18 tires.
Dimensionally they're the same as the oems in fit and function except with a 2" larger rim.

You're pretty much locked in to BFG G-Force in the 245's & 255 16 tires. Right now there's a whole lot more 18" diameter tires out there and if you ever do trips and have a tire issue, better chance of finding something in 18's vs 16's.

Hope that helps.

I can sure understand keeping the originals especially if you don't want to change the rims also. That being the case, you're pretty much looking at BFG's for the most part.

I'm planning a long trip in the future and want to reduce the chance of getting stranded in the event of a tire issue, that's why I changed the rims.

Just for info, here's what the ones I have look like

Here's another little tip. When I was looking I found a lot of different rims listed with the +40 offset, thing was when I checked most were not available. I found 'FactoryReproductions' out of California brand actually available. Best price I found was a place out of Texas, even better than going to the vendor directly.

Good luck whatever you do.
